I

don't know -I wish I had more courage and didn't care so much about

the side effects but the potency of Lexapro really scares me so that's

why I decided to try the Celexa again last night :(

I'm in the same boat as you Charisse. I can deal with the fuzzy head,

sleepiness, etc., but the nausea, I want NO part of that. Terry

Charisse...do you have Lexapro? Why don't you try a 1/4 of that for a week and

see how it goes? maybe it won't be so bad. Everything I've read about it, they

say it has much less side effects than the Celexa. Terry

Hi Terry. I would say I have a very sensitive stomach. I have

intolerance to about 27 different foods that they discovered through

blood testing last October. I knew I was feeling sick from more then

just emet so I looked up an alternative dr who helped me with the

allergy testing. I can take vitamins with food and it's not an issue

.. But cold medication can make me feel sick to my stomach. Most

antibiotics I'm okay with though so it's hard to say if I'm that much

more sensitive then other people. All I know is that I won't be taking

the Celexa again tonight. I've felt like crap all day. I took two

naps, laid around, had some slight nausea most of the day and now

finally I'm starting to feel better again. Unfortunately I think this

has scared me even more from the Lexapro. Love Charisse

Terry I am not sure I believe that the Lexapro would have that much

less side effects and I'm scared to find out. My fear of Lexapro is

that it's so much more potent. I took less than a 1/4 of a Celexa

which is not supposed to be as strong and I had such strong effects so

it seems to me that the Lexapro would make whatever effects I feel

worse. Is there anyone on this Board who has taken both Celexa and

Lexapro and thought Lexapro had less initial sides? Love Charisse

About a year ago I took Celexa and was so nervous I could not

function so I went off of it after a week. This year, I got a new

doc who wanted me to try Lexapro. He started me out on 10 mg and the

only side effect was vivid dreams. not bad dreams just vivid ones. no

nervousness at all. He then a few weeks later upped me to 20 mg.

then the nervousness set in but only for three days and then it

stopped. last week he upped me to 30 mg. I take it at night and I am

sleeping much better and the nervousness if only slightly when I wake

up. I have xanax if I need it but I try not to take it much. HOpe

this helps. Overall I was much pleased with Lexapro and not Celexa.

I don't know much about Celexa, but I've had a lot of trouble with

anti-depressents making me sick. I finally tried Lexapro, and it's

so much better. I have had some trouble sleeping, so I'm trying to

move my dose up earlier in the day little by little. I took 5 mg of

Lexapro for a week, and I'm moving it up to 7.5 now. I feel pretty

good. The most side effects are tiredness from the Klonipin I'm

having to use to sleep. I'm hoping to get off that as soon as I get

my dose up to 10 mg of the Lexapro and it stablizes.

Kathy, I switched from Effexor some months ago to Lexapro. I've

found Lexapro to be much smoother, less side effects than Effexor. I

always felt like I HAD TO take the Effexor XR, and it was a jolt to

my system. If I was even one hour late taking it, I had a headache.

I have read Effexor has a very very short half life (less than one

day), while Lexapro is several days, so I assume Lexapro doesn't

suddenly disappear from your body.

Regarding the sleep problems, one thing that has finally helped me:

Previously I was drinking a caffeine-free diet coke after dinner at

nights. I thought that since it was caffeine free that it wouldn't

affect my sleeping.

Recently, I stopped drinking any carbonated drinks at night while

watching tv. I started drinking a cup of Chamomile or Sleepy Time

(Celestrial Seasonings) tea at 8pm. That has really helped.

Previously, I would always wake up at 3am, sometimes get up for an

hour. Now I wake up some, but go right back to sleep.

Let us know how you're doing.

I'm not doing too bad, thanks. I've eliminated all caffeine and

carbonated drinks from my diet because I've been getting so much

indigestion, so that's not my sleep problem. I do like the Lexapro

much better than Paxil or Zoloft. I'm going up to 10 mg this

Friday. I'm down to 1/4 a Klonipin tablet a night now, so I'm hoping

that soon I can be off for good. I drink the chamomile tea

sometimes, maybe I'll give it another try tonight.
