Guest guest
Hi! I have been on 20mgs of Lexapro for about 7 weeks now. I have had no sexual side effects or weight gain. In fact, I have been dieting and have had no trouble losing weight while on the Lexapro. It does make me really hungry. However, if I don't give in to it I am fine. I am about 5'5'' and 125lbs. This is the least I have ever weighed. I do think you need to work out to keep your metabolism in check. All the SSRI's mess with metabolism. I run about 6 miles everyday! Good luck with your meds. Lexapro has saved my life! Blessings,
Guest guest
Heidi, I wasn't really tired when I first started taking Lexapro. It tends to make me jittery and I run a little high strung anyway. I take my meds about 3:00pm and I do notice that I feel somewhat sleepy around 1:00 but not enough to really slow me down. As far as exercise goes, I have been working out for almost 2 years. When I started I weighed 213 and I would just walk and watch what I ate. Now at 125 I run and try to eat around 1700-1900 calories a day. Since the Lexapro has me feeling better I take my son more places and am not hanging around the house wanting to eat. I also homeschool him so I don't have a lot of free time to think about food. I would love to lose another 10 pounds and get to a size 2, but if I can't I'll be ok with it. PS. I am so happy to have found this board. Depression/anxiety can be a very lonely journey! Guest guest
That is it! I am weaning off this medication. I just binged again! It is making me crave sugar so bad and the tiredness. I can't take it. I am not better than when I started to take it. I just called my psych to tell him and talk to him about it. I am going to gain 50 pounds at this rate. I am unmotivated and sluggish and slightly less anxious - but I have had it with Lexapro. Heidi momtokai <melleichter@...> wrote: Heidi, I wasn't really tired when I first started taking Lexapro. Guest guest
I had the exact same response to Celexa. I *did* gain over 50 pounds in about 14 months on Celexa. I craved carbs and sugary foods. :-( No energy, no motivation, wanted to sleep all the time. Guest guest
so are you now on Lexapro? do you have the same response? Barbara <bjarrett@...> wrote:I had the exact same response to Celexa. Guest guest
Right now I'm on Effexor. My NP wanted me to try Lexapro but I had such problems with Celexa I was very scared of Lex. My therapist wanted me on Cymbalta. At that time my NP didn't have enough feedback and info on the Cymbalta combined with the high price because it's a new drug and asked me to try Effexor instead as it works the same way Cymbalta does. So far I'm doing very well on the Effexor. I was off all AD's for almost two years. I'm been on Effexor for about 6 weeks or so now. Guest guest
I have been lurking in the background and reading all the post. I am on Lex 10mg and am in the process of weaning myself off. I have gained a tremendous amount of weight and cannot get it off. I've never in my entire life weighed in at 157. I dont look it, but the fat is there on the bod. I crave sweets and eat quite a bit which I never did before. I am also tired and sleep a lot. That is all I want to do is sleep. So I've gone one week with taking one pill every other day. So far, I feel ok without side effects. Next week, I will skip two days and take one. I will do that for two weeks, and then I will skip three days and then one. I will see what happens. My psych says that I can just stop it cold turkey and be ok. I tried that and it was horrible. Just thought I'd share my experiences with lexapro 10mg. --- Heidi Kay <heidimarlenekay@...> wrote: > so are you now on Lexapro? do you have the same > response? > > Barbara <bjarrett@...> wrote:I had the > exact same response to Celexa. Guest guest
We are all different, at the stage you are at is when I stopped. You have to do what your body tells you is right. I am surprised that your shrink would tell you that about Lex...but...what can I say, but good luck, I have been better for being off it. > > > > > > > > Heidi, > > > > > > > > I wasn't really tired when I first started taking > > > Lexapro.
