Guest guest
When I was first told I would have to be on medication for the rest of my life I felt the same way, When I was told I would have OCD for the rest of my life and it will only get worse if I do not take medication for it I was like no way..there has to be another way. I wanted it simple no med, no therapy---I guess some have read what happened when I stopped the meds--The OCD did get worse and now I can't tolerate the smallest dosage of an SSRI--my dream of becoming a neuroscientist, eeery thing I worked so hard to obtain gone in a matter of months after stoping Zoloft. Now I realize that the doctors were right. I have to accept the here and now, I do not know what the future may hold in the way of neuroscientific approaches, neurobioloy of some of our disorders, better technology etc, etc...Something good will happen. In the mean time I must live in the present and head the adice of my doctors. I am sure that one day in the future, I know having to take medication will be a thing in the past. >From: " danarose1950 " <danarose1950@...> >Reply-Lexapro >Lexapro >Subject: Re: Time to get off Lex and see what happens? >Date: Tue, 27 Jan 2004 02:54:24 -0000 > >You know what really gets to me Jeff...... being told that I will be >on medication or in therapy the rest of my life. Guest guest
My moods have been yo-yoing alot over the past 30 days. I visited with my shrink today and I am going on several adjunct medications. One to improve my mood stability and the other for migraine. I am having almost daily migraines with my mood fluctuations and my shrink thinks it all might be inter-related. So we will see. I will keep you posted. I am going to be keeping a mood journal too. Also, he has never ruled out bi-polar but I don't cycle to mania. The verdict is still out. So.... for now, I am resting in the comfort of my doctor's expertise and taking it one day at a time. We also have been trying to track what is causing my cycling and there is no real external stimulant in my environment so we are concluding it is internal and physiological. All in all I am discouraged because I would like to someday not have to rely on medication to help me do my day to day. I don't like to be dependant on anyone or anything. I just felt embarassed when I left his office today and a little ashamed and alot discouraged. Guest guest
I like the way you write, you get your point across soo clearly. , I am sorry this happened to you (((hugs))). I hope I did not trigger you with my directness as I am sure you all know I can be direct, not intentionally. Perhaps this is part of my illness, I open my mouth before thinking how it will affect someone here again Dana Rose > > > > > For those who remember, I was at 30mg then 20mg and finally > >10mg > > > of > > > > > Lex where I was feeling best.(Had terrible sides at 30 and > >20mg) > > > My > > > > > life circumstances have changed for the better and I think it > >is > > > > > time to try to become med free after 5+ years on various ssri's. > > > > > > > > > > I think I should first taper to 5mg, then after 2 weeks maybe > > > 5mg > > > > > every other day and then.....hopefully med free. > > > > > Anyone have any other suggestions?? > > > > > Thanks > > > > > Jeff > > > > _________________________________________________________________ > Get a FREE online virus check for your PC here, from McAfee. > http://clinic.mcafee.com/clinic/ibuy/campaign.asp?cid=3963
