Guest guest
Methods to detect EtG include immunoassay (EIA or ELISA), gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS), liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS), and liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry/mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS). Immunoassay methods are of limited specificity and sensitivity with a limit of detection of approximately 1000 ng/mL. GC/MS and LC/MS methods are much more specific than immunoassay, and offer detection limits of approximately 500 ng/mL. LC/MS/MS methods utilize the most technologically advanced instrumentation currently available in forensic and clinical toxicology and provide the highest sensitivity. Redwood utilizes an LC/MS/MS instrument for the confirmation of EtG, which has a limit of detection below 100 ng/mL.robin murray <remurraymd@...> wrote: hi n,you know you are right about the stupidity of all this..the EtG level in in all of us including our monitors is NEVER zero just not measured by them by choice below 100ng/ml..regards,r nilesclay <nilesclay > wrote: Okay, let me clear this up...i called to get my results. I call for every result, as they notified me on my one positive 3 months later. My monitor said uh oh.....the level is 260. I said...well, I have been advised that the cutoff is 500 now. She said yes it was, but still wanted a letter that we had discussed it. I even said to her that it isn't really a positive, because under the cut off, and she said I was right.....but still wants the letter because it was over ZERO......dang this is getting so stupid.........> > > >> > > > okay, here i am again with another "positive" EtG.
