Guest guest
I have been taking Lex for 4 months. I am sooo tired all the time. I have been thinking about stopping but was told on another group I can't " just stop " . I tried cutting down to a half dose and that ruined me. I was taking at night but the next day after I get the kids off to school I find I can go back to bed and sleep til they get home. I started taking it because of anxiety and panic attacks. Before i started taking it I couldn't sleep at all. I brought it up with the burse at my psychiatrists office and she said she had never heard of lexapro making people tired. I jus want a happy medium, I want to be able to sleep, but I also want to be awake occasionally.. Thanks, Les
Guest guest
Les, I have found that Restoril 30 mg.(Temazepam) helps me sleep at night and I wake up wonderfully refreshed. I also take Lex in the a.m. before I go to work and I am ok with it, no drowsiness... “We have loved the stars too fondly to fear the night.†Experiences please I have been taking Lex for 4 months. Guest guest
I have to agree in some ways. Lexapro really helped me with my anxiety and paranoia but the apathy that it creates I feel lazy alot. I still feel like I am being watched but I no longer give a crap. So I am still paranoid but I just don't care anymore. --- <clrjgoodrich@...> wrote: > I have been taking Lex for 4 months. I am sooo tired > all the time. Guest guest
Lex can make you tired and apathetic. My anxiety and OCD level is way down, but so is my ambition, energy and sex drive. Guest guest
I also have those feelings of being tired and apathetic. I need to do so much in my apartment but I just can't seem to get my self to get it done. I'm ok to do things outside once in a while but then those things are mostly social stuff and I can only handle thise things for so long and then I have to retreat for a while. Sometimes I do feel really useless and unable to do anything about it. My mind knows and wants to do things but to actually do things can be really over whelming. ak --- Dennis <bluesman615@...> wrote: > Lex can make you tired and apathetic. Guest guest
Before Lex, I was in a constant state of anxiety, rapid heartbeat, etc. I was compulsive in when I did things, they had to be done in a certain way, almost ritualistic. I was also depressed, crying all the time, thinking about the future and how I was going to end up being an disabled old lady with no one to care for me. You see, I would think of horrible bad thoughts, about worse case scenarios and I couldn't stop. That is the obsessive part of my old behavior...with Lex (and 900 mg Litium) I am doing soooooo well that today I cried tears of happiness that I wasn't feeling like hell. I also had insomnia from hell and my psych prescribed 25 mg of Restoril and 1 mg of klonopin to sleep. And guess, what? After 6 months of insomnia, I can sleep now. Granted, along with the meds, I had to do work on myself, a lot of soul searching and dealing with things I had been avoided. Liz In a message dated 12/16/2006 2:51:44 P.M. Oh and I would like to add that the paranoia responce had me laughing... I have. I take it for anxiety and agoraphobia. It has helped me a lot. Ive been on it for 4 years, and have been on a milligram and a half for 3 years, not addicted. i do want to try Lexapro, and plan on it very soon when I feel I am ready. Guess I have a phobia of meds. I take Alprazolam, the generic of Xanax. Terry
Guest guest
I've been taking Xanax for seven years now, and it's been great for me. I also take a milligram and a half a day. I've had no side effects from it,either. Just recently, tho, the panic attacks have returned, even with the Xanax. My doctor wants me to take Lexapro, but I'm afraid to. I feel so weird with the panic attacks, I can't take anything else. If I have even one more weird feeling, I'd probably crack. I think I already did crack, tho, cause the panic and weird thoughts are starting to subside somewhat. But the Xanax is great. I still don't know what to do about the Lexapro. terry <terry120953@...> wrote: Thanks for the responses. Has anyone just used xanax and had good results? What are you taking the Xanax for? I decided come spring I will start the Lexapro, I seem to be more relaxed that time of year. I DESPISE winter. I REALLY want to try Lexapro, and my doc said I could start with as low a dose as I want. He gave me Lexapro 2 years ago but it expired in Oct. and I threw them out. Guest guest
I was crying all the time too. I couldn't stop. At work, at home, on the bus. Not constantly, but enough for me to know something was wrong. I asked my doctor if I was having a nervous breakdown, and she said that's what they used to call it, but it's not a precise medical term. She diagnosed it as depression, gave me a prescription for 10 mg Lexapro and two weeks off work. I've been on the Lexapro for almost three weeks now and back to work for two days. My doctor wrote a release to go back to work and also, for work limitations, that I was supposed to minimize stress. It't time for my annual review, except my supervisor is deviating from the normal annual review and insists on what I call an annual inquisition. I told her I'm supposed to minimize stress. She said she can't accept that from the doctor as it's too general and not specific enough. So my doctor faxed something that said I'm unable to do my annual review at this time. The supervisor and manager of my section don't want to abide by that. They said they're going to call HR to see what they say. I would imagine they would have to abide by it, as it's a doctor's restrictions. I work for the State of Minnesota Department of Health. You'd think management would be more concerned with the health of the employees. We do have a union, and I'm talking to a union rep on Monday. More stress. Guest guest
Hi - I have been on 20mg Lex for about 7 months. It saved me from hell. As time went on it became clear that the only negative was the profound tiredness or apathy - not sure if the tiredness casues apathy or the apathy is a seperate side effect. At it's worst I could sleep all day and night. I would wake after 10 hours and feel tired. I have experimented for weeks for a solution. The Solution I found: Vigorous aerobic exercise for 1/2 an hour one every four days. Absolutely feel " normal " now. No excessive tiredness, just the ordinary tiredness that comes from hard work or a long day. It is free and makes me healthier - what a bargain. I still wonder why it works? I also wonder what the hell my doctor was thinking. He suggested drug after drug, but this most simple idea. It feels counter-intutive to set out on a run when all you want to do is sleep. I tried it because I was lollygagging around my place when it occurred to me that the tiredness felt sort of like being terrible out of shape. So I tried exercise. It worked beautifully. > > I have been taking Lex for 4 months. I am sooo tired all the time. I > have been thinking about stopping but was told on another group I > can't " just stop " . Guest guest
That sounds like me before. I was in a constant state of panic it seemed. Now I am not so much, but of course I am unconsence most the time.. ;)It is weird becuase I used to not be able to sleep at all and now I can't wake up. I find myself falling asleep sitting up at people houses. How embarrassing is that? > > > I am just happy that Lex curbed by OCD tendencies and my anxiety. Guest guest
How in the world could your psyc not know that people become very tired on Lex? Good grief, my psyc. told me that I should take it in the evening/bedtime BECAUSE it makes some people sleepy/tired a lot. Maybe you should tell her about this group and that she should read some of the entries to know what people go through when on this drug- the good, the bad and the ugly. ak -- In Lexapro , " " <clrjgoodrich@...> wrote: > > I have been taking Lex for 4 months.
