Guest guest
Hi Alison ~ ~ Thanks for clearing that up for me *smiles* I thought you were going to a clinic but wasn't sure, so now I understand (((Hugs))). I myself may be going to a clinic for free drugs soon as I lost my battle to win long term disability today Big disappointment. Some hospitals that are Federally funded have grants you can apply for while in the ER for financial assistance. Have you ever tried that? Also, some drug companies will dispense medication for fee too. Guest guest
Dear Dana, I am going to try this one more time. I tried to post to you 3 times but wouldn't let me. First of all, I am so sorry to hear about you and the disability. Do you know why you were turned down? Are you going to be ok? Are you working now? do you have any money saved up? Do you have any form of support? CAn you reaply? Is there anything I can do? Help me understand all of this. My dr put me on temporary disability ( through february ... that is about 3 months worth) What if I am not significantly improved by then ? Can she extend the time? what is the longest one can be on temporary disability? How does permanent disability work ? also ...as far as charity.. I am in the middle of a thing with a local hospital to excuse a thousand dollar ER bill. They are truly a nightmare. They are still threatening me with collections although I sent back their paperwiork withone one day. they are switchign account numbers on me allthe time and making up accounts I didn't have before. They are sending me notices with incorrect balances ( and I am talking 500 dollars more than they should be. SO... I have had it with hospitals..nto helping my stress. alison > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Here is my question of the day .. it has been over 3 weeks > > > now...and > > > > I do not see any improvement from the lex. Guest guest
Hi Alison ~ ~ My short term disability already ran out My long term disability was denied due to pre-existing condition. In answer to your questions, some short term disability programs can be extended and some can't..... mine couldn't. LTD usually lasts for 2 years and then you could apply for Medicare if Social Security determines that you are disabled. The waiting period for Medicare is 2 years from the date Social Security determines you are disabled unless you are 65 years old and then you can automatically apply for it. I have my Social Security disabilty appointment in two weeks and so I will see what they have to say. Your doctor who treated you and responded to your short term disability can apply for long term disability. My pre-existing clause was that I could not have been treated for 90 consecutive days prior to applying for LTD, which I had and hence their denial. Good luck with hospitals, they are famous for screwing up paperwork. You probably will have to pay them a visit one day and just sit down with your original paperwork that you bring and compare to theirs.
