everyone. I am new to posting on this board

but not new to reading posts on here. I am a 32 year old female and

have had panic/ anxiety for about 5 years or so. I started taking Lex

last year and continued for about 8 months then weened myself off. I

felt it was helping somewhat but not as well as I had expected. It was

my fault I guess because I still would not leave the house or want to

do anything constructive. Well here I am again, almost 1 year after I

got off of it, my doc put me back on. See, I am a baby when it comes

to meds and he origionally put me on Zoloft, which I did not take

because I was scared of the nervousness side effects, so he put me

back on Lex. I was scared to take that too even though I've been on it

before and instead of starting off with the 5 mg dose I cut that in

half and only took the equivilent of 2.5 mg to start. I know I need

this med to give me some motivation. Am I just a wuss or what? Someone

please tell me they have done the same thing because they were scared

and that I am not the only one! Thank you in advance for all of your

responses. I hope eveyone else out there is well.

You know, Sophia, some people are afraid of getting

better. They are so used to the unhealthy life style

and feelings that they wouldn't know what to do if

they were to feel better. They would have to give up a

lot of the old familiar for the new and good

unfamiliar. Even though that can be scary I think that

the risk of change is so much better than staying in

the old familiar dull and yucky life of depression and

anxiety.

Hey Thanks Alot. I don't really beleive that you two were being

constructive and really hurt my feelings. Like I said I was scared

of the medicine because it caused more anxiety and panic the last

time I took it in the beginning, if I was scared of the treatment

overall, I would not have started it again in the first place. I am

now on my 2nd day and feel just fine. Thanks, but no thanks for your

comments.

And by the way, I don;t have an unhealthy lifestyle, I just

celebrated my 1 year wedding anniversary, own my own business and

have a very active family and social life. I have anxiety and panic,

this is what was dealt to me.

Hi, I completely understand, and have gone through much of the anxiety and

panic, and would be scared taking any meds because of fear of getting more

panic. Start very slow, and stay positive.

Therapy has been so good for me. My panic came from my childhood and also

lived in fear because of my bio dad who was very mean. If we can figure out why

we are experiencing panic, and work through this fear, you can live panic

free. I also take ativan, very panic when needed.

It sounds like you are full of life, believe in yourself and know your ok.

Have you heard of Dr. Wayne Dyer, he is awesome. I listen to his tapes

everyday. Good luck and take care of yourself.

Hugs,

Suzi

And by the way, I don;t have an unhealthy lifestyle, I just

celebrated my 1 year wedding anniversary, own my own business and

have a very active family and social life. I have anxiety and panic,

this is what was dealt to me.

Hi Suzi...Thank You so Much for the encouraging words, it is so nice

to know that there are great people out there that know what I am

talking about. I am now on day 3 and did up my dosage to 5 mg

yesterday, so I only " wussed " out that first day by cutting the 5 mg

in 1/2. I am sorry to hear about your childhood, however, I am so

happy that therapy and ativan when needed is working for you. I have

not tried the tapes that you were referring to but I did get the

book " From Panic to Power " by Lucinda Basset and it did help me

tremondously. Thanks for sharing a piece of you with me.

I'm sorry I hurt your feelings. I didn't mean for you

to take it so personally. If you re-read it, it was

written in a neutral form. I was not meant to hurt you

just to take a look and see if this was you or not.

Who knows, maybe someone else who read it would have

seen themselves in my comment and gave it a thought

and will try and deal with it. Since it didn't fit you

then you can just throw it out the window like you

just did. We don't know you so any comments made is

just by going by what we read. I'm sorry that your

words were misinterpreted. Please forgive me. You are

a precious person and I'd hate to think that my trying

to help you hurt you instead.

Dont worry about it honey, I am sorry that you got your feelings hurt. Alot of

people dont understand the fear of meds. I have it...I still havent tried

Lexapro yet! I can even get worked up about taking an advil. Dont worry about

hon, every body is diff. not your fault that some people dont understand. You

will get better one day at a time. EVERYONE is different. WE all need to

remember this. Take care and email me any time I know how you feel. Luann
