Guest guest
The weight gain most women experience on SSRI's is in the breast and stomach area. Of course the weight does go on in other places too but that seems to be the most noticable areas of weight gain. Are you *sure* it's only water retention? That's not a side I've ever seen associated with SSRI's. I gained over 50 lbs in 14 months on Celexa (the parent drug of Lexapro). Effexor didn't affect me nearly as badly as Celexa did for weight gain. Barbara My Fellow Lexapro Friends I have been on 10mg of Lexapro and have been on them for about 2 months now. I am reaching out to all of you to see if you anyone has experienced water retention. My body is retaining water and I have gained a few pds. I am finding a new found life on Lexapro one that is at a lot slower pace, which is a good thing, but the water retention and oh an few extra pounds is beginning to bother me. My body seems to be reactiving the same way as when I was on birth control pills.... just to give you ladies an idea of the way I feel. My chest is very full, and as I said I have gained a few pds. Which is the same side effects I had when on the pilll. I went off of it for this reason. Lexapro has helped me in so many ways, but this side effect is beginning to bother me. Has anybody else experienced this?? Please let me know your thoughts. I am loving Lexapro, but I can't take the water retention. Thank you. Guest guest
YES,YES,YES! me too all of the them and I too want to stop. I lost 25lbs before I went on lexapro and have stayed on a healthy diet and exercise program I got my blood presure down to normal and was feeling GREAT! then I went for a follow up with my dr. and had gained @ 5 lbs back! I could not fricken believe it! I was doing so well, I thought " how could this even be possible? " Then I drove from virginia to arizona in a u-haul truck and my legs swelled up like soft balls and hurt so badly I wanted to cry most of the drive. I dont know if its the lexapro but I have been home for a few days and still in a lot of pain. > > I have been on 10mg of Lexapro and have been on them for about 2 months now. Guest guest
I put on 10 lbs over 1.5 yrs, no edema though. I recently made myself become more active and am losing weight now. The Lex slowed me down, I was always going 100 mph before. So, some lifestyle changes were in order for the newer more relaxed me. kimallred3 <kimallred3@...> wrote: YES,YES,YES! me too all of the them and I too want to stop.
