Guest guest
I would call your doctor ASAP and get his opinion, those are rather severe side effects. Bob Nausea, Diarrhea, and Chills with Lexapro 10mgs. Hello All: Just joined and took my first 10 mgs. of Lexapro this morning. Had all of the above symptoms, however, the diarrhea and chills went away. The nausea is lingering and very unpleasant. I was thinking of going to 5mgs. tomorrow morning to see what happens. Any suggestions on how to abate the nausea? If this is a permenant or lengthy side effect, I think I will switch to Effexor XR. Your suggestions would be helpful. Thank you in advance for your comments. Regards, Nick
Guest guest
--- Hello Everyone, Like Nick, I too have been having problems with my Lexapro. I am confused what to do. See last for 2 years I was on Zoloft. Everyday I had a terrible stomach attack about 45 minutes to an hr after taking it. One day I just couldn't take how bad it made me sick and I suggested we try something else. Come to find out, My insurance was going to drop Zoloft as one of its drugs it would pay for. Anyway the doctor switched me to Lexapro. The first week I got really sick every day after taking my doze for the day. I told her what was happening and that other than the nasusa, dirraha, shakes, and sweets, it does work on my depression and even some of my pain. During the summer I was up at my camp, and I got a migraine so bad it felt like it was going to split my scull in half. Then I got nascious but never actually got sick until I woke up with head pain and I got so sick I felt like I was going to die. Being I was at camp far from my doctors office, I just waited it out, of course blaming the lexapro. I took myslelf off them and wanting nothing more to do with them ever again. Later I found out, there was a flew bug that hit everyone around my camper that week. They all had simular symptoms and were all very very ill. So I saw my doctor and explained why I called to see her and stop taking the lexapro. By this time I had to explain that it might have been the flu bug everyone else around me had, and not the lexapro at all. She repremanded me for stopping the meds! She said I was not a doctor. Well, first of all, I was hrs away in to the wilderness, where I have my camper amoung the trees in a private camp ground. It was a holiday week-end and there was no way I could have reached her in anyway to help me in this situation, I just don't see that happening. So I thought it would be ok to make an appointment when I got home. So I had stopped the lexapro for several weeks by the time I got to my Primary's office. After she repremanded me for stopping the meds on my own, she expained she wanted me to start again right away. I expainted that the lexapro does have an effect everyday with my IBS and I have it sever. At least once a day after taking lexapro there is a bad sick attack. She still claimed after taking it for several months, it should go away after the first couple of weeks. (it didn't) So now I go home and start taking it again. The first week was the usually attack 45minutes to an hr after taking it of stomach, bowel and nausia. the second week I was even sicker. The head ache returned and it felt like I had a milagram that went bad. ( I have had that so I know what that head pain is like. no lights on the eyes or it feels like your scull will blow out your eyes) So I decided to call her and let her know what is going on with me..... she is out of town... It is a week end and to reach someone on Sat or Sunday and again we were suppose to be at the camp, and hr from home. So I decided to wait it out again. I just stopped taking them. I cannot handle being that sick. I don't seem to get passed the first couple of weeks they claim these side-effects will go away. She claims that everytime I stop and start it is harder when you start up again. Does anyone know if this is true??? At this point I don't know what to do. I feel she is pushing me to stay on the lexapro even if it makes me feel so sick I want to die!! How can I get use to this?? I hate it! I am afraid to tell her again that I stopped taking them. I do see a difference with my depression anxioty, panic attacks, and pain, but it takes everything out of me when I get sick like this. All my energy is gone.I might not feel depressed, but my body feels like it went through hell and I have little energy after the bathroom attacks are so bad. I don't know what to do now. Has anyone else gone through any thing like I have with this med? At first it seemed it would be better than the zoloft. It too kicked off bad stomach attacks. I have sever IBS so maybe it has something to do with that. I also have Endometreosis, and it is even worse when I have that with it. Like today. I end up on the bathroom floor doubbled over in pain. The last lexipro attack was before camp when I thought my migraine was going to crack my scull when my brain felt like it was swelling through my head. Then the stomach attacks are so extreme I have fainted on the floor many times. My primary seems to think this is all normal !!! Just give it more time!! I don't know how long I am suppose to wait taking this med that makes me really really sick... but later works to keep me less depressed! It's crazy! Any suggesstions or comments would be appreciated ! Please help in anyway by adding your oppinon. I am disabled and I have chronic pain so bad its of the scale. I take strong pain medicine but because chronic pain depletes andorphins and seritonion both in the brain and in the colon, ( my doctor just informed me of this fact. I was not aware ) I just wish I know what to do. I am still getting them filled but not taking them at this point.... I am afraid to go through another killer 2 weeks. It felt like it lasted a month. My energy was 0 after that..... thanks for your help and your comments.....
