Manoj,

I have been sober for almost 4 years from alcohol and pain pill addiction.

Lexapro has worked well for me, but I just added 75mg. of Wellbrutin for

energy and it seeems to be working alittle. Remember, addiction is your number

one concern.

Alcohol causes very bad depression, 4 months is great, and I believe your at

the point mentally, that you will start feeling better. It takes a few months

for the depression to lift from alcohol. If you had depression before drinking,

I would suggest, to stay on the Lexapro and seek counseling and AAmeetings. You

have come so far, and you should be very proud of yourself. I am! If I can help

you in anyway, I am here for you.

I've gotten in trouble with 2 dui's and made the efforts to stop

have my mental health checked out.

I've been sober for 4 months now, I feel better but lexapro seems to be

dragging me down. I'm so tired during the day, loss of ambition and

laziness. I mentioned this to my doctor and her response was " so does

depression. "

Has anyone tried another ssri or antidepressant - something that is not

so sluggish on the body?

Thanks,

Manoj.

I've been on Lex. 40 mg a day for about a year now. I was getting depressed

again last summer so My Doc added Wellbutrin to the mix. I take 300 mg in the

morning and the lex in the evening and have a lot more energy than I had when I

was on just the Lex. It's been a great combination. I also wanted to say that I

am newly clean from pot smoking. I've been clean for about 2 months now.

Unfortunately, there are few AA meetings where I live so I go to Al-Anon as it

gives me the tools of the program that I can apply to my daily life which I try

to take one day at a time. Sue CI'd like to see if anyone had problems with

alcohol or drugs prior to taking lexapro. I've gotten in trouble with 2 dui's

Manoj,

I used to to take Neurontin, it worked well, wasn't sluggish nor tired.

I did feel depressed when I was drinking, alcohol was a way to cope

with it. But, it is not the best way. I'm enrolled in a court

ordered 18 month program, I feel like I've hit rock bottom at the age

of 26. Very depressing, so I went in and saw a doctor to get some

help. I plan on staying sober, I've created a hate for alcohol as it

made my problems worse by depressing them. I am proud to be away

from drinking, but I'm not proud of the things that happened with

drinking. So, I try to not let this get to me but every now and then

the thoughts come back of all the wrong doings.

Thanks for your support,

Manoj

I used to smoke pot a few years ago, and the lazy/tired/sleepy

feelings I get remind of of when I used to use pot. So, I'll have to

let the doctor know about this and ask her about wellburtin.

There may be a group that you could get help from also, I saw

some on alcohol yesterday when I did a search.

I have a friend that used to smoke everyday and beleive he still

does. I don't know if he realizes that it is a problem and that

maybe he should get help or if he is content with it. I guess some

people use it for different reasons.

Stay drug (the illegal ones) free!

I'll have to ask the doctor about Neurotin. I talked to her a couple

days ago and told her about what was going on. She said that it is

recommended that patients stay on lexapro for 10 weeks, before

changing meds. So, I kind of feel like a lab rat, if I have to jump

around with different meds.

As for energy, Lexapro has made me to have apathy.

But I had recently started selegilil. It can be

dangerous to mix with lexapro but as long as you take

no more than 5mg/day then it is only a maobi but 10mg

it becomes a maoai and can cause siezures. Doctors

are cautios to giving this combination to suicidal

patients. I take the lexapro for anxiety attacks and

I am bipolar. The only drawback of selegilin is that

if you have a job a drug test will show positive for

amphetamines because it synthsizes into amphetamine

though it is not a scheduled drug.

does selegilil give you consistant energy through the day in

combination of meals?

I'm become very scared about these kinds of meds once having heard

about the risks of seizures. My father had epilepsy and I remember

the attacks that he would go through before he pastaway. So, this is

something that I'll have to talk about with the doctor when I meet

with her.
