Guest guest
Patty, I think I know what you're going through. You start feeling pretty good on the Lexapro, then pms hits and it feels just awful, worse than ever before. But actually, you don't feel as bad as you did, you just think you do because you were starting to feel so good! I've noticed that since I've been taking the Lexapro that my pms doesn't last as long, like a few days instead of three weeks. And I don't get all weepy and irritable. Just a little grouchy and short. Plus the time of year doesn't help, with the days getting shorter, and having to get up in the pitch dark in the morning. Good luck, and I hope you feel better. Guest guest
Thanks for the words of encouragement. I called my doc, and she said that it's also very common for newbies to lexapro to start feeling better, and then to hit a " slump " in mood, but that if they wait it out, their mood will stabilize near the high end of the mood range. So, between those two perspectives, I feel encouraged. Guest guest
Patty ~ ~ I would be interested to see how you are doing after this " slump period " as this is commonly when people go off this drug. I am past my slump and now my psychiatrist is increasing my dosage. I think it is all about the waiting game and sticking with it. I am soo glad you feel encouraged Patty !!! Guest guest
I'll definatly give an update as things progress. How long did it take you (or anyone else out there who experienced the " slump " a few wks after starting lex) to get out of the slump??? Did the slump end without increasing the meds? I've just started getting headaches, after being on this for 2 1/2 wks. Is that wierd or what? I also get very hot and start to sweat (like hot flashes, I imagine, but I'm 35) during the daytime. I thought our thermostat was broken, but I realized it was MY thermostat that was wacked out! This is a very strange drug. Guest guest
Hi Patty ~ ~ Sweating is a common occurance for me, during the daytime hours too. Unfortunate, eh? During the summer when everyone was freezing with the AC at work, I was sweating. Have spoken with my pdoc and several others about this and it is a side-effect. I went through the sweating period for about 3 months and it is seeming to dissapate some. I am 53 and post menopausal and was thinking that I might be having hot flashes again, but the sweating lasted all day long and hot flashes are just that.... hot... flashes, they come and go. As for the slump...... I increased some of my other medications to help and now things have seemed to level off for me. Headaches, I get when I increase this medication but it goes away after about 2 weeks or so. Keep with it Patty !!! I am finding out that it is paying off for me *smiles* and I have been on it now for 15 months.
