Guest guest
Excellent point Patty !!! I had heard also, that Lexapro came out in 5 milligram tablets, but my pharmacy has not been able to get them. They do have a tendancy to crumble. Guest guest
I agree. What is his thinking? If he's that concerned about the dose ask him to prescribe the liquid form of the drug for you. That's much easier to get an accurate dose than guessing a " crumb " . Sheesh, I've never heard of a doctor doing that before. Wow. I'd be finding a different doc if that's possible. Guest guest
thanks barbara, I have no mobney right now so I am dealign with a county clinic..they are a little strange over there indeed. totally benzophobic and very stuck on the lexepro idea..like they will do anything to make me take it. it is almost creeping me out. if I could afford a dr I would. sad thing is I have blue cross...but it would cost me around 170 bucks plus the meds to see a pharmacologist. I simply do not have that kind of money as the panic has made it not possible for me to work at this time. what a mess!!! alison On Wed, 10 Nov 2004 23:10:33 -0500 " Barbara " <bjarrett@...> writes: I agree. Guest guest
Patty, thanks for the tip about splitting pills--never thought of that, but it makes sense that the meds would be less effective if the pills are not split evenly Leela > > Hey, I was just thinking about the fact that some people have > posted that they're having a rough ride on lex, and that they're > splitting pills, but they don't have a pill splitter, so the pieces > are uneven. Guest guest
That sucks. :-( They are so touchy about anything like xanax. And the patients are the ones that suffer. Sometimes you just have to keep after them. I had to do that. And they finally ajusted my meds and added some for the shortness of breath that actually worked. I'd call them and ask them about a liquid version of Lex. You have nothing to lose at this point. And tell them, repeatedly if necessary, that your anxiety is worse and the Lex seems to be causing this. Good luck and keep us updated.... Guest guest
If you're having trouble tolerating the drug and the dose has to be so small that when you try to cut a pill it's crumbling I don't see how that's a luxury. I know, of course, they may have their own views about this but it's certainly worth a try. This is the type of thing I worry about if we ever get any kind of national health care system. :-( Barbara Re: Re: Splitting pills. > > thanks > I will ask on monday ..but I fear due to the county regulations that that > would be considered some sort of luxery item . Guest guest
I also think that having them give you the correct dosage (whether it's in a pill form or liquid) is NOT a luxury; it's more like a safety issue for your health. For crying out loud; I'd expect them to be worried about liability in a case like this! Asking you to crush a tablet, then guess how much powder is your dose? Crazy. If you can't get something pre-packaged in your dose, maybe you could think about getting a gram scale (pawn shop?), crushing it to a powder, then at least being able to measure out the correct dosage. You could even package your own capsules of your dosage (.2 mg, 2.5 mg, whatever) in those little empty gelatin capsules you can buy from the health food store, so you'd be making your own pills, in effect. At least you'd have a consistant dose each time. Patty > thanks > I will ask on monday ..but I fear due to the county regulations that that > would be considered some sort of luxery item . It is on special order fro me and will take abotu 2 weeks to arrive ( what to do in meantime???) but she thinks it is perfect for me as I will be needing to inch up the dose real slow due to being hyper sensitive to meds and body changes. If nothing else, coming to this website, someone was helped by something I put out there then it makes all the difference in my life !!!!!
