Guest guest
Yes I turned into a total raging bitch when I tried to go OFF the Lexapro. When first prescrbribed this med for major depression and GAD, I started out taking 10mg, then the dose was increased two months later to 20mg since I told the doctor that I was still very anxious and was having to take more and more Xanax. Well, that didn't work either. I become very moody, snapped at everybody and anything, I was just not a fun person to be around. So I decided that the Lexapro was definitely not the anti depressant for me. I stopped taking it cold turkey. For about 4 week, I had little brain zaps, become extremely moody and irritable, snapped at everyone, it was just horrible so about a week ago I decided to start taking it again (only 10mg) in the hopes that it will work this time. In other words, I couldn't deal with the withdrawals after 4 weeks of being off the stuff......I'm amazed at how many people says Lexapro has saved their life. I don't find it any better than the others. In fact, after experiencing those little brain zaps for 4 weeks after not taking it, it makes me wonder what the hell is in that white pill. I've never experience brain zaps with other A/D such as Prozac, Paxil.... Jodi <missdjrane@...> wrote: I am down to taking 2mg of Lex a night. I wanted to go off because of the extreme tiredness, weight gain and lack of sex drive.. I was on 5mg for a year for anxiety and it did help. I know that doesn't seem like much , but it does when you're trying to get off of it!! I got the liquid and I have been going down .5mg every week... slowly.... I am at 2mg now. I have bad headaches extreme anxiety and am very emotionally unstable, one minute I'm balling, the next I'm yelling. I hope this goes away. I have been acting horrible. I am going to lose my boyfriend if it keeps up! Anyone have any experience on mood swings while coming off an SSRI? This is the first one I've ever been on this long and tried to come off?!?!?! I've never felt this way .I'm feeling very nervous..... -Jodi

Guest guest
I just don't want to be on medication longer than I need it. Lexapro hasn't been that bad for me. Guest guest
I think it just depends on the person. I had an awful time with Paxil and Zoloft, and Prozac, but the Lexapro hasn't been bad to me. I've been phasing down by 2.5 mg weekly, and I haven't had brain zaps or anything. Just a night or two of edginess. Kathy R. ....I'm amazed at how many people says Lexapro has saved their life. I don't find it any better than the others. Guest guest
Wow you're very lucky....you're right everyone is different with these meds....why have you decided to stop taking it? Were you diagnosed with major depression? Kathy <kaceyr_2000@...> wrote: I think it just depends on the person. Guest guest
I started having panic attacks after my we sold my mom's home. She died April 25th, and we closed on the house on June 6. We had to do it, and were very lucky to find a buyer so easily, but I think it was just too much too quickly, and then when we weren't so busy anymore, the attacks started. I had never had them before. Lexapro was my third try on medications to help me, and it was very helpful, except for making me very tired. I haven't had a panic attack since I started on it, and I've been forcing myself to deal with the emotional issues that I was putting off. I've started feeling more normal, so I decided to try to come down 2.5 mg at a time to see how I'm doing. So far, so good. I'm not ready to go off entirely though, so I'm staying at 2.5 mg for awhile.
