Didn't like Valium?!?! :<

Hmmm! You surprise me. Most people *love* Valium (in fact, a tad too much!).

For me, it took away all my tension, but I was still able to function (unless I

took too much: anything over 10 mg. at one time was too much for me, and would

only make me sleepy and " out of it " ). Perhaps you should try a smaller does of

Valium? I have heard that Xanax gives one more of a " high, " so perhaps it's

that that you missed from the Valium (which doesn't make one " high " -- just

relaxed). Take too much, it's a GREAT sleeping pill. However, I've sworn of

all the benzos now, which includes Xanax, Valium and epam. They are all way

too addictive. I'm weaning off the Lexapro, Day Two, and am doing fine at my

7.5 dose. Don't feel any difference at all from the 10 mg. daily dose I was

taking -- at least not YET.

I would be careful with the Effexor. If it works for you, fine. But, if it

doesn't and you want to get off it quickly, you may have a hard time. It's

semi-hellish to wean off. If you decide it's NOT for you, start weaning off it

as quickly as possible (as the longer you are on it, the more hellish your

weaning off it is gonna be). Of all the SSRI's, I'm afraid, the worst

" weaning-off " stories come from Effexor, I think! A smart thing to do when you

get on an anti-depressant is to join up a group on , of others that

are taking that anti-depressant. Such as this Lexapro list, for example! There

are several Effexor groups on , and they can give you some clues what to

expect. You go to the homepage, put in " Effexor " in the search

box, and several Effexor groups will pop up. My best friend recently got OFF

it, without TOO much of a trial (but, ... some). You have to just sort of

resign yourself to feeling crappy-ish for a while, if you are weaning off an

SSRI or a Benzo that you've been on for over a year, I think. If you tell

yourself it's just a withdrawal symptom, that you just have to ride it out and

it will go away in a week (or two or three), it's easier to get through it. I

know this after a rather torturous time weaning off epam (generic Valium).

Not good news, Diane and Jeff. I HATED the Valium. Worked quite quickly and I

felt soooo tired and kind of strange. Unfortunately, couldn't sleep though

(tried to fall back asleep this morning after I fed my dogs because I took off

of work) and felt kind of anxious also. And it stopped working after about 2

hours (just like the Xanax). I also took my first Effexor XR. Wish me luck on

this one. Have read so many posts about the withdraws of Lexapro (and, of

course, all of the SSRI's) and the dizzies are a big, big complaint. So at

least that makes me feel a little better. Can't wait for them to go away,

though. Anyway, went back to the Xanax for now. Maybe if the Effexor is really

effective, I'll try the Valium again. Ugh. What a struggle.

Guess what, I am not even in Las Vegas....just a little hick city in

Northern Nevada!!!! Foxwoods=Ultra biggie, but there will always be

only one Las Vegas....personally I hate the place!!!

Seriously, most people that do not have our conditions...simply

cannot relate!It just makes no sense to them! Your poor Hubby has

the typical response of those souls " just get over it " ....been there

done that!

I'm also a big valium fan. Love the stuff! I've only taken it once

when I had my wisdom teeth pulled and chose to stay awake for the

procedure. I could have cared less what they did to me. I actually

didn't like Xanax though. I use Ativan 3 or 4 times a week. Charisse

See, that was my problem. epam is generic Valium,

and I loved it. Made me REALLY mellow. Nothing

bothered me at all when I was on it. BUT, it's

addictive. I started needing more and more to get the

same effect. NOT good. It's hard to wean off it, so

try not to get addicted. They say if you take it for

10 days in a row, every day, that you build up an

addiction to it, and then your body sort of " needs " it

just to feel okay. And, the longer you are on it, the

more hellish it is to get off it. Just a word to the

wise!

Cahrisse, Can I ask you why you didn't like Xanax? I tale Alprazolam, generic of

Xanax for over a year now and I love it. It has given me part of my life back.
