It is a delicate subject.. I dont know about sexual side effects for women.. But I have noticed a difference.. just having the opportunity to find out, is a difference for me....lol

My sex drive lately is nonexistent.....Did not notice this so much

on Celexa...Could be cause its winter and I get more depressed in

winter.....not in mood lately.

I told my therapist that yesterday,she was going to look up the

sexual sides in a book....

Let us know what your dr says ok?

Hi

I'm on 10mg of Lexapro and 225mg of Effexor XR.

The Lexapro dulls my sex drive and feeling. In fact last weekend I

was making love to my wife. I took 100 mg of Viagra. I was hard but

had a real numbing feeling in my Penis and could not climax.

My question is. Has anyone taken a few days off from Lexapro before

having sex then had no trouble going back. The reason I ask is that

a few years ago I did the same thing with Celexa and it stopped

working for me.

I actually have my sex life back!! Celexa made me non-orgasmic, and

Lexapro has given me it back. I take 5 mg, equivalent to 20 mg

Celexa. I've been on it about 8 weeks now, I had incorrectly thought just

7 the other day when I wrote. I also think more clearly on Lexapro than on

Celexa -- but that wasn't what you were asking for.

I haven't followed you on how long you've taken the Lexapro. How long have

you been taking it? It may be that you're just adjusting to the

medication. Our sex lives are also closely linked with our feelings, and

the holidays bring out many feelings in people... just a thought.

As for the sexual " sides " .....on Celexa I had a lot of times I just

finally faked it to get it over with. I would get half way there

then just shut down. Irritating as hell. But.......the Lex, never

had that problem with it at all.

Update ~ I wasn't able to go to my regular Doctor Mon. (he called and canceled because he had an emergency). The nurse called me back and I am now on 10 mg of Lexapro from my regular doctor.

Here is what happened, and I am ashamed to say. My regular doctor prescribed Wellbutrin SR 150 mg twice a day. It started making me very jumpy and I heard about Lexapro from this list and other lists ~ I tried to get into my regular doc, but he was out of town. I was desperate and went to another doctor. Then when my doctor came back I called him and asked if he would switch me (I was embarrassed to tell him I was already taking it for about 2 weeks). He told me no since it had sexual side effects and that is what I was trying to avoid. Anyway, to make a long story short, I am going into my regular doctor Mon. and I am going to tell him I want a prescription even if it does have side effects. After about 2 weeks on Lexapro, I started laughing by myself watching a TV program. My DH came into the room and asked if that was me laughing. Sad I know.

Anyway, I am trying to get as much info as possible to talk to him on Mon. I am glad that you have not had side effects. I was taking 10 mg a day.
