Hi all ... am at a " turning point " here and need some advice.

Have been on 1/2 dosage for 2.5 weeks and have had good and bad days.

But today is a BAD day .. dizzy, close to tears, slight GAD.

My ? is ... is there any reason to think I will experience this now

while reducing my meds (which I am doing correctly after doc orders)

and then they will go away later ? Or is this a case of here we go

again and I might as well just jump back on the full dosage right

away ?

I want my life back,

Cath

Cath, why was it that you went down to 1/2 dose?

You could be having a double-effect: partly b/c of slight withdrawal; partly b/c

your symptoms

are coming back due to the lower dosage.

Call your doctor first before making any more changes...just give him a quick

call today & let him

know how you're feeling. Ask him if this is how you're supposed to be feeling.

I know this is a tough thing to face but the fact is that some people need to be

on the mids for an

indefinite period of time. I'm not sure why you're cutting down, so forgive me

if I'm wrong on this,

but I think sometimes when we're starting to feel better, we decide we don't

need the drugs

anymore. For some people, this is very true. But for other people, the only

reason we're feeling

better is BECAUSE of the drugs. Is this making sense?

If you had high blood pressure and you took your meds and felt better, would

that mean you

could get right off of them? No.

Anyway...again, I really don't know the " why " behind your cutting down, so maybe

if you could

explain it, that would help?

I'm sorry you're feeling so poorly,

Mel

Thanks Mel :o) ! I have been on meds for 2 years. Doc likes to check

if you still need them after that time period.

I was on Paxil from 97-98. Had to quit as they hurt my liver due to

weight gain.

I was then med free and feeling fine for 4 years.

In 2002 I needed help again. Have 2 ill children and it got too much

for me. So I have been on them since may 2002 now.

For the most part doing really well. Better on Lex than Celexa.

Can't get in touch with doc until Monday :o( !

Cath, have you been able to get through to your doc's office to find out

what he suggests?

If I were crying and dizzy I would want to go back on the meds.

Yup thats the feeling I had ... " give me my meds !! " ;o).

No I have no chance of getting a hold of him until Tuesday. (Had

forgotten the holiday). If I want to talk to a doc I will have to

call the ER.

This afternoon DH and I had agreed that I would just go back to my

regular dosage of 10 mg. But this evening I have been feeling a bit

better.

I really want to give this a shot. I really want to see if I can do

without.

But another day like today and I'm back on 10 mg ;oP !

Hi, Cathrine! I'm so sorry to hear your children are sick. That could

certainly make a Mom depressed. I'll be thinking of you and your

children.

I don't know exactly what withdrawal from Lex would feel like as I

haven't tried to stop this particular drug (I just started it), but I

do know what it felt like when I tried to taper myself off from the

Zoloft. I felt spacey, weird, irritable, and had insomnia. Are you

having anything like that?

I wish you could get in touch with your doctor before Monday! You

shouldn't have to feel like this.

Honestly though, I'm thinking it may just be that you still need the

medication...because it seems like what's coming back is your

depression symptoms. Can you hang in there until Monday? Did your

doctor tell you that if it didn't seem to be working, you could

increase your dosage again?

Off-topic, would you mind saying where in Scandinavia you're from?

I'm writing a book that takes place in Norway and I'm always

interested in talking to people from there-abouts!

I hope you feel better soon,

Mel

Thank you ! You know how we moms worry about our kids no matter

what ? Well spending time in hospitals and not knowing whats going on

really knocked me out. Had been 2 years of illness with son when

daughter was born sick as well. One day - after 5 days in the

hospital with her - without being able to leave as we have no family

to help us out and I wanted hubby to stay with son - I noticed that

tears were just leaking from my eyes without me even crying. Too

physically drained to actually cry. Too emotionally tense while

emotionally lost.

But now the youngest is 2 and so she can communicate what she feels

that that really helps - so this is a good time for me to try to

reduce and stop my meds.

> Zoloft. I felt spacey, weird, irritable, and had insomnia. Are you

Yes ! With some nervousness added to it all. It was so odd - I am not

an angry person, rarely feel anger and 2 days ago I was furious ! I

was at the gym and I must have looked like a mad woman ;o) !

Amen !

Yes. He has no problems with that but I just don't know how much of

the symptoms is enough to call it quits. Feel unsure about that.

> Off-topic, would you mind saying where in Scandinavia you're from?

Mailed you about this :o).

Thank you Mel,

Cathrine.
