Guest guest
So any type of prescribed or OTC medications that are detoxified by the liver could possibly increase the ETG level? Especially when Acetaminophen induces the same isoforms of the liver enzyme UGT that's responsible for producing ETG. I think that's the way it works. Robin, is this correct? So I wonder if the toxicologist is saying any medication that is detoxified in the liver could be a problem. Or is it the one's that induce the same isoforms of the liver enzyme UGT that produces ETG? Thanks n2bf.
Guest guest
yep n2bf marsha and nancy have the most experience here but acetaminophen blocks hepatic oxidative metabolism causing more upregulation of non oxidative conjugation UGT systems producing more EtG...also there is some chronic injury from previous apap/hydrocodone abusers also causing upregulation...so acute/chronic liver oxidative injury is thought to play a role...regards,r nurse2bfree <nurse2bfree@...> wrote: So any type of prescribed or OTC medications that are detoxified by the liver could possibly increase the ETG level?
