Guest guest
Hello, I am new to the group. I have been on probation since October, almost a year, and not drinking. I completed my alcohol class and never had a positive UA. Since I successfully completed my program, last week I had to follow up with the county service that monitors my progress. I had to take a UA there. I got a voicemail today that it was positive for alcohol. I am flabbergasted and SCARED. I will be calling the counselor n the morning when they open. I don't know how this could have happened. Doing research today, was the first time, I learned of the EtG test and I read some of the things that could cause a false positive. I did have vanilla in a smoothie that morning. I have also been trying to research if the outdated can of V8 Fruit Fusion I drank could have possibly fermented. Any advice would be helpful. I have no idea. I am also curious as to all the #s and cutoff levels on the EtG. I couldn't really find a site that explained in lay terms what it meant. Is it telling how much EtG is in the system?? Thanks in advance for any advice. Terrified I have come this far and done so well and taken this very seriously and was feeling great and now I am just scared. Guest guest
Sorry to hear of your positive EtG. It is not the V8. More than likely it is the vanilla extract as most are alcohol based. You need to be aware of this for future reference. I have been a nurse support group leader for over eight years and always caution group members of the danger of hidden alcohol in many foods and drinks.Sent from my iPadOn Sep 8, 2011, at 16:38, "pdxabcd" <pdxabcd@...> wrote: Hello, I am new to the group. Guest guest
Living in fear of the unknown and the uncontrollable is torture. I did it for 7 years because of this test. My thoughts are with you. Control what you can (diet, environmental exposure)...the rest is out of your control. As far as cutoffs, that is all " secret " and I doubt if you will get any of that information. I have a hunch that most boards and court programs have raised the cutoffs they are utilizing because there has been a dramatic drop in reports of " false positives " that I have heard of. BE STRONG AND STAND BEHIND YOUR TRUTH!
Guest guest
As you have already heard, EtG is a joke at best unreliable and at worst can and has ruined lives!! there is no way to prevent a false positive, I tried it all and still had them. the only thing that saved me was that they obviously changed their cutoff, cause I too have not had any in a while. I never even drank in the first place!!!!
