Guest guest
OK, then ask her what evidence ("clinical correlation") the almighty DEC has BESIDES A POSITIVE EtG value to pull you off work and send you to IOP or residential treatment? They are playing "pass the buck" with you. Nobody wants to take responsibility. Whoever is making the decision that you have relapsed is doing so based solely on EtG levels, and the consequences of such are DISCIPLINARY in nature. They need to read the advisory again! Guest guest
I suppose if the cut-off were 200,000 ng/mL a whole lot of people would find it a lot easier to drink when under contract not to drink alcohol. Guest guest
I always thought that was a possibility J I’m inclined to think that even you don’t believe 200,000 ng/mL should be the lower end cut-off for EtG. Can I chose both? Guest guest
--- Damn, I'm slippin here. I retract my cutoff suggestion of 500,000. There shouldn't even be a cutoff cuz ya'll shouldn't be pissin for the Nazis anyway. I always knew the day would come that I would have to argue with myself. Guest guest
NO, you can't choose both! How about this one...maybe it's easier for you to answer since the other one left you baffled. Do you think the public is actually safer since the inception of EtG testing in 2003? Guest guest
Safer? Perhaps. How many people were discovered who actually were drinking and trying to get away with it when they knew they should not be drinking (i.e., the alcoholics). If it saves lives does it make the public safer? Yes. Do we need to ensure that the levels used for detection and reporting of violations are as close to ideal as possible? Yes. Is there perfection in EtG levels? No. Will there ever be perfection? No. Does any lab test have perfection? No. Does that stop people from using them to violate people in monitoring situations? No. Is EtG different? No. Is research underway? Yes. Will all our answers about EtG ever be answered? No. Should you stop fightinig for what you believe in? No. Have you figured out my motives and why I do/say/write what I do? No. Will you ever? Doubt it. Do I enjoy the discussions? You bet. Have I learned from them? Absolutely. Have you learned from my infrequent eye-opening comments? Hope so (even if it was only to get people motivated and incited to action).
