Guest guest
Mr. Kabat, Could you please explain this power point presentation that you were a presenter of? I am VERY interested in the part on Etg stating a 'positive finding is admissable evidence of non- incidental quantities of beverage alcohol'!! Just wondering WHERE this info came from and with everything that has gone on how someone can actually present that false information! http://72.14.207.104/search? q=cache:DCwv8TbzmG4J:www.nlectc.org/training/commcorr2005/westra_comco rr2005_sleep.pdf+Etg+ethyl+glucuronide+incidental & hl=en & gl=us & ct=clnk & cd=27 & ie=UTF-8 Microsoft PowerPoint - westra_comcorr2005_sleep.ppt Episodes of apparent intoxication are confirmed by sophisticated laboratory testing. Alcohol consumption is confirmed by Ethyl Gluconride (EtG) testing. Ethyl Glucuronide (EtG) is a minor metabolite of ethyl alcohol. It can be detected in urine for up to 3- 1/2 days after alcohol use. * A positive finding of EtG in urine provides court admissible evidence that the person recently consumed non-incidental quantities of beverage alcohol. Since EtG is only created during the metabolism of alcohol there is no potential for a wrong result due to external contamination. * Unlike traditional alcohol urine testing, EtG testing is not affected by glucose, cross-reactions or fermentation. * EtG levels are not affected by urine dilution due to super- hydration or " water loading. " EtG testing is now regarding as the new " gold standard " for alcohol testing. Impaired professional programs throughout the United States now use EtG testing to verify abstinence for recovering doctors, dentists, nurses and other health professionals. Other drug use is confirmed by EMIT testing. Positive EMIT findings can be confirmed by Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (the " gold standard " for drugs of abuse testing " ).
