Guest guest
Personally, I get tired of all the reference to hand sanitizers, perfumes, etc. In my own case, I keep a food log and read all labels. I know that my latest positive EtG was not from incidental alcohol exposure. It must be endogenous alcohol production. -------------- Original message -------------- From: "danramo" <danramo@...> I was upset that E. coli was not mentioned. Even Lorie's last positive had E.coli in the mix. Six percent of women have E.coli living in there bladder without causing symptoms. My theory is that E. coli can pick up an ethyl group from some other organic molecule besides alcohol(i.e.mucuos)to form etg.At least KMOV has brought etg to national attention. I thought my picture turned out ok. Remember I have predicted by the end of the year etg will bee gone. I want credit as a visionary. Dr. Skipper is a peach! Guest guest
I too think the root for most is endogenous... women in particular are more at risk with autobrewing yeast and genetic deficiencies in alcohol dehydrogenase which would quickly break down etoh from whatever source. the small intestines have the square footage the size of a house inside of each of us all of the ingredients to brew etoh are there... do think exposure, inhalation, liver medications worsen the above biochemical facts. do think that positives from asymptomatic bacteruria are real and more common than anyone thinks again in women to to decreased urethral length... saclorie@... wrote: Personally, I get tired of all the reference to hand sanitizers, perfumes, etc. In my own case, I keep a food log and read all labels. Guest guest
I agree completely!! I know I did not have an incidental exposure, I was careful to the point of paranoia. -------------- Original message ---------------------- From: saclorie@... > Personally, I get tired of all the reference to hand sanitizers, perfumes, etc. > In my own case, I keep a food log and read all labels. Guest guest
Thank you so much for the reply! I really appreciate it. I'm not even sure they are using EtG testing but either way you are probably right about the vanilla. I sure hope the counselor is understanding.I have found a list of foods and household items to stay away from and will be very very careful. From: Don Daly <ddaly54@...>"Ethylglucuronide " <Ethylglucuronide >Sent: Thursday, September 8, 2011 5:24 PMSubject: Re: False positives Sorry to hear of your positive EtG. It is not the V8. More than likely it is the vanilla extract as most are alcohol based. You need to be aware of this for future reference. I have been a nurse support group leader for over eight years and always caution group members of the danger of hidden alcohol in many foods and drinks.Sent from my iPadOn Sep 8, 2011, at 16:38, "pdxabcd" <pdxabcd@...> wrote: Hello, I am new to the group. I have been on probation since October, almost a year, and not drinking. I completed my alcohol class and never had a positive UA. Since I successfully completed my program, last week I had to follow up with the county service that monitors my progress. I had to take a UA there. I got a voicemail today that it was positive for alcohol. I am flabbergasted and SCARED. I will be calling the counselor n the morning when they open. I don't know how this could have happened. Doing research today, was the first time, I learned of the EtG test and I read some of the things that could cause a false positive. I did have vanilla in a smoothie that morning. I have also been trying to research if the outdated can of V8 Fruit Fusion I drank could have possibly fermented. Any advice would be helpful. I have no idea. I am also curious as to all the #s and cutoff levels on the EtG. I couldn't really find a site that explained in lay terms what it meant. Is it telling how much EtG is in the system?? Thanks in advance for any advice. Terrified I have come this far and done so well and taken this very seriously and was feeling great and now I am just scared. Guest guest
ETG tests are very inaccurate and a ridiculous screening tool. Guest guest
Get a good lawer who knows how inacurate the ETG test is..pay for him/her, it will be worth it for someone who knows the literature and how many times false positives show up! You will need someone who will fight for your side. They may ask you to do a lie detector if you truely did not drink and this false positive will change your career/life, then it may be worth asking for.I am very careful about everything I eat....and vanilla has a high concentration of alcohol unfortunately. I wish you good luck!
