Guest guest
, Boy, can I relate to your development of OCD & anxiety disorders with all this stress & worry! Last summer I was having so many cardiac sxs they did a big workup (it was neg, thank God); I got really pissed @ 1 triage RN who told me I just needed to get rid of my stress & I'd be okay!!! Talk's cheap, that's for sure. Even tho' I haven't had a + since 9/8/05 & have had 24 negs since then, I still feel a little unnerved going in to give the specimen, & it's always in the back of my mind until I get the result which is usually 7-10 days later. I'm not even sure I have 1 nerve left!!! Hang tight; you're with empathetic friends here. Marshasexybellykelly <sexybellykelly@...> wrote: Hay, glad I could help you guys. Guest guest
I call Maximus a week after the test & talk to either my cm or her assistant. I've never gotten anything by mail. Or if it's "bad" news, they call me---- & that's a dreaded message to get: "Marsha, this is (cm)---call me." Makes my heart pound just typing it!!! Guest guest
Hey, you guys are not alone. I dropped out of diversion in August '05-due to ETG of course-and even reading about how everyone reacts to an innocent positive got my heart fluttering and my palms sweaty. I just know when I go before the probation dept. I will be a mass of hysterical nerves. AND I DID NOTHING WRONG. If I were still living in the daily fear I don't think I could cope. That fear and anxiety over testing would probably have driven me to relapse. My hat is truly off to all of you who are living and coping with the fear of false positives. That is really a taste of powerlessness--I could think of a few people I would wish that one on! Guest guest
Hey guys! I'm new to the group. I'm hoping you guys are the EtG experts!!?? Because I have a few questions. To tell you a little about my situation, I am 22 years old. I was placed on felony probation for 4 years when I was 18. I repeatedly violated my probation the first year, including obtaining another felony. Luckily my father was a judge and I got a few strings pulled to get that felony dismissed and got to stay on probation. I haven't been in trouble since (2.5years) until a couple weekends ago, I got a DWI. Needless to say, my new probation officer was pissed... She's new to town, therefore she doesn't know anything about me/my family. She is recommending 1 year in a rehabilitation prison type place. My attorney is the best around. He is confident that he can work out a deal w/ the judge to avoid this. My probation officer has been giving me EtG tests weekly. I haven't been drinking, but what I have heard about these EtG tests are that they aren't always accurate and many things can set them off. This makes me extremely nervous. One negative test and I will definitely have to go. I am the youngest buyer ever in the history of the largest corporation in the U.S. and cannot afford to lose my job. (Sorry about the 20 page email..) So...My questions are: -What are the standard detection periods of EtG after alcohol consumption? -Are there any factors that cause the metabolization of EtG to speed up or slow down? -Are there any studies on the percentage of 'False-positives' for the EtG test? -What foods, drinks (non-alcoholic), or medicines/drugs have been known to cause positive results? -Are there any studies or percentages done to prove the accuracy of EtG tests? .... I also read something about the government being attacked by a group because of the accuracy of these tests... Is this true? If any of you could please answer any of these questions or send me any information regarding these questions, I would truely appreciate it. Thanks~! - > > > > Hay, glad I could help you guys. Guest guest
I havent heard of anything about the gov being attacked...but you can learn a great deal by looking at the files and database and do some reading of the posts ....I would print out the advisory and give that to your parole officer..maybe you could take more ETOH tests or the CDT blood test that reads up to 2 weeks...maybe you could get someone to pull a few strings... > > > > > Hay, glad I could help you guys. Guest guest
, Here are my thoughts about your situation... Maybe it is time to take responsibility for YOURSELF instead of let Daddy fix it for you. I have found that if I DON'T use drugs or drink, life is MUCH better. If you would put your efforts into actually cleaning up your act, perhaps these issues would be 'non-issues'. Etg does have it's flaws...we are all living proof of injustice....only difference between you and us is, we ARE clean and have been unfairly treated...you are not and have played the system. If you are here to find out how to beat this test....we cannot help you. IF you want help and support in recovery..we welcome you with open arms. I only speak for myself, but once I got honest with myself and started changing ME, without blaming everyone around me or asking for their help to cover up my mistakes, is when my life changed. I wish you the best in life and hope you can start taking responsibility for yourself. camelt0ehunter8585 <spsawyer@...> wrote: Hey guys! Guest guest
- has excellent advise. I also found that the people who let me slid or "helped me out of a jam" in the past only fuelled my addiction/disease. The best thing that can happen is face up and surrender to your addiction. Only then can things start to get better - negative consequences or not. N <nautiques5@...> wrote: , Here are my thoughts about your situation... Guest guest
Oh, don't worry, you're not breaking anything to me. I appreciate the concern, but I know they still use ETG in probation. My hope is that by then we will have more evidence about it and a higher cutoff. It has been a year so far; I have been " investigated " but nothing else. When I was still in Diversion, most of the probationers in my NSG said it was anywhere from 2 to 4 years before the department caught up to them. I'm not hiding, just waiting and recovering. One foot in front of the other... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~Keeping the faith~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Eva > > > > Hay, glad I could help you guys. Guest guest
It's good to see that your spirits are up. I like the people in probation much better. They don't degrade you and "punish" you like they do in Diversion. Keep working your program--don't do like I did and go back to using while waiting for probtion to catch up to me-that was a big mistake. I am almost 7 years clean now and never want to go back to that place. Re: In regards to letter Oh, don't worry, you're not breaking anything to me. Guest guest
I was wondering while waiting for probation I heard you can work with your license. When the board does catch up to you does your work get notified or do they just notify you. How much did your investigation cost? I have horror thoughts of them investigating my work. I admitted I diverted so thats not the problem, has any body been charged? Just wondering --- carolandalynn <carolandalynn@...> wrote: > It's good to see that your spirits are up. Guest guest
My work is never notified - PA - Even when my monitoring program took me out of work b/c of this positive etg crap. My DON and administrator were actually annoyed that they weren't notified. I could've never told them about it and I'd still be getting a paycheck. (sorry I'm in a pissy mood about this whole thing today) Good luck whichever you do Hartman <jhartman32001@...> wrote: I was wondering while waiting for probation I heardyou can work with your license. Guest guest
Hey : I can only tell you what I know from my own experience. If you leave diversion Maximus can inform your current employer and deem you a "public threat". I haven't heard that it actully happened to someone, just that it can. I was in diversion before Maximus--and nothing was said to my employer or otherwise. They investigate the original complaint and may contact the local DA's office. They did with me and I was on county probation for 1 1/2 years and had to pay a hefty fine and be tested twice a week. I also had to do outpatient group twice a week and attend 2 na/aa meetings a week. If there are no criminal charges, it will take 1-2 years for them to catch up with you. I didn't realize that I did not have to talk to the investigator they sent. I just confessed all. If I had not, there may not have been any criminal charges, but I was ready to "come clean" and feel better for doing so. You don't have to pay for the investigation if, at any point prior to signing your "stipulation" agreement with the BRN you end up on Medi-Cal. I was on it for 5 months because I slipped on the ice while visiting my son and I was uninsurd at the time. Broke my humerous and my fibula. I now have been on probation for almost 2 years and ready to transition when I got these 2 + EtG tests--bummer. I am still wokring but have not been given permission to look for other work..In fact, I haven't been told much anything. I don't think they know what to say. Enough of my rambling--good luck to you. Guest guest
Sorry guys slow here, but wanted to respond to this one....It is true Eva...here in CA, probation uses the EtG test as well as diversion does. I have had one positive test...not a false positive, because there is no such thing as a false positive, just an incidental exposure. Mine I believe was the Albuterol inhaler I was using. I have since quit using the inhaler, I will be on death's doorstep before I use it again! It seems I am on the 10 year plan with diversion/probation.....have been clean/sober since 1/23/99. My probation ends one year from yesterday..ooo and I am damned if I am going to get another positive....good luck! -- In Ethylglucuronide , " carolandalynn " <carolandalynn@...> wrote: > > I hate to break it to you, Eva but I am on probation and thy do EtG testing on probtioners here in CA. I had 2 false-positives and are fighting them with all I have in me. Good luck to you-lt us know how verything tuns out. This group really helps. > Re: In regards to letter > > > Hey, you guys are not alone. Guest guest
I acutally really really like my probation monitor, she is very nice....but, I do know a guy in my NSG that was turned over to the AG for a positive EtG. His monitor told him that drinking is the only way to have a positive. He is waiting to hear what the BRN is going to do next. I don't know the whole story....only what he has divulged. > > > > > Hay, glad I could help you guys.
