Guest guest
many of us here are wondering why this has happened to us and we are all searching for an answer. Check all products you use. Guest guest
So sorry too. I have had several + as well, without ETOH consumption. Most of mine were >700, except for the last one, it was >1700. The only thing I could think of was that I started the BCP and had 3 positives right after that!! There is correlation of hormones causing + EtG. I have eliminated Listerine mouthwash and use my prescription mouthwash very sparingly. I gave up the BCP, however I have not been tested this month yet. I am hoping that I eliminated the problem. I have also seen documentation that the liver would have an impact on +EtG if there were a virus present. Keep writing and let us know, as Lorie & Tina stated, we are all in this together. Guest guest
Hi Sorry to find you in the same situation as the rest of us. What state? Sorry Tina but what will reliving every second of your life change? "They" don't really care where it came from and when explanations are offered you are dismissed as being a liar or a contract violator. Has anyone recieved a list of things and I mean things, gas containing ethanol, PAM cooking spray vending machines, cleaning products, paint etc... of things to avoid?? I know for a fact my board doesn't realize(nor want to realize) the impossibility of the contract (you will abstian from the use of alcohol in any form). I think the avenue to persue is the impossibility of the contracts. Doesn't use imply knowledge? Sorry I am done with thier demands and giving up my licence and participation in thier contract of impossibility, for now, so excuse my harshness. I just feel we have tried to educate them and this is failing so we need to persue other avenues...just my 2 cents ..for what it's worth... Re: POSITIVE TEST So Sorry! Guest guest
And I just have to ask is it right to not use BCP in order to satisfy the board?? Re: POSITIVE TEST So sorry too. Guest guest
Hi, Welcome to the group...sorry to hear about your positive! I don't know if anyone else has asked this....but do you know what the creatinine is on that urine? If the creatinine is very high it could have been a very concentrated urine and that is why the Etg is higher. Good luck, keep us posted on how you make out on this! Hope you can find the hope and support that many of us have found here. > > Hi everyone, > > I am in a monitering program and recently had a positive urine etg, the > number was 2000. Guest guest
NO, I actually stopped only after 2 mths, I felt that they were the cause of a yeast infection, and I cannot deal with that, I am allergic to Diflucan......and of course I would for sure get more + because of those facts. Thanks, Joy (I would like to say what I think of the board, but I know that there are others who can read this email):)crssemc@... wrote: And I just have to ask is it right to not use BCP in order to satisfy the board?? Guest guest
Are you thinking of Diflucan or Flagyl (metronidazole)? I've never heard of need for etoh abstinence w/ Diflucan, but Flagyl, yes, for sure.lilibit007@... wrote: Diflucan can work like antibuse..you cannot drink on it just my 2 cents Stay in the know. Guest guest
Huh? Alcohol should be avoided or moderated while taking Diflucan b/c both undergo liver metabolism and can potentially cause liver damage. Am I missing something here? > > Diflucan can work like antibuse..you cannot drink on it just my 2 cents >
Guest guest
i think you are both right...flagyl acts like antabuse, makes you sick if you drink on it...diflucan causes liver injury if you drink...different side effects, both harmful should not be taken with etoh...regards,lilibit007@... wrote: Im not a nurse ,maybe I was wrong SORRY..oooppps
Guest guest
Boy, this is scarey as I have NEVER been advised to tell pts no etoh on Diflucan & have never known a provider to advise it, either. I will certainly reinvestigate that Lorie <lorieg@...> wrote: Huh?Alcohol should be avoided or moderated while taking Diflucan b/c bothundergo liver metabolism and can potentially cause liver damage. Guest guest
Like I said to Lorie, this is scarey as in all my yrs of GYN clinic practice pts were NEVER cautioned @ Diflucan & etoh. I will certainly shift my gears as an RN now @ the Advice Center. Thanks for the lesson of the day! Guest guest
I totally feel your pain. Please, don't give up. Basically my response was sarcasm. Hang in there, I truly feel that there will be justice. We all know how messed up this test is. We know it in our hearts. I know I'm not a liar. It's so tough to be accused of something wrongly. You can't defend yourself. Being labeled as an addict makes it even tougher. I didn't even have an addiction. But because of one night of poor judgement. They want to label me an addict. I'm hanging with this group because I know in numbers we will win. Satisfaction for all their torment, I believe will come soon. Hang in there and don't let them get you down.crssemc@... wrote: Hi Sorry to find you in the same situation as the rest of us. What state? Guest guest
yep,it is the cytochrome p450 enzyme system in the liver that diflucan selectively inhibits so the poor ole liver can't take the hit when etoh comes in hence injury... search and you will find...Marsha Dienelt <marshadienelt@...> wrote: Boy, this is scarey as I have NEVER been advised to tell pts no etoh on Diflucan & have never known a provider to advise it, either. Guest guest
How did we get stated on Diflucan? Was it my mention days ago about the fact that I am allergic to it? I had a "Fixed Drug Eruption" from the Diflucan (OF COURSE I was not drinking when taking it) which results in discoloration of the skin (not pretty). It took a long time for the dermatologist to DX me, actually I beat him to it! Anyway, thanks for the additional information on Diflucan, esp about the liver pathway.
