CALL FOR TWO

APPLICATIONS: ICASO BOARD OF

DIRECTORS

31 August 2009

Are you affected by

HIV and want to influence AIDS and health policies around the world?

Founded in 1991, the

International Council of AIDS Service Organizations’ (ICASO) mission is to

mobilize and support diverse community organizations to build an effective

global response to HIV and AIDS. This is done within a vision of a world where

people living with and affected by HIV and AIDS can enjoy life free from

stigma, discrimination and persecution, and have access to prevention,

treatment, care and support.

The ICASO network of

networks works globally, regionally and locally, and supports community

advocates in over 100 countries. ICASO operates from its International

Secretariat in Canada and through Regional Secretariats based on five

continents.

Currently the ICASO

Board has two vacant Board positions. One is aimed specifically at

contributing resource mobilization experience and expertise, while the other is

for someone strongly linked to key populations and regions that are currently

less represented on the board. By doing this, ICASO aims to ensure that its

strategic decision-making plans and processes are more strongly linked to the

most affected groups, as well as providing for additional, predicable, and

long-term funding to enable ICASO to fulfill its mission and vision.

Board member for

resource mobilization: We are looking for one person with a strong commitment to

supporting the community response to HIV, human rights, and the GIPA principle,

and who is experienced in the development of strategies for resource

mobilization, linked to influential donors, and is well informed in the area of

international HIV and AIDS policy.

Board member linked

to key populations and key regions: We are looking for a board member who is well

connected to one or more of the following key populations: people who use

drugs, sex workers or transgender people. The person should come from or be

strongly linked to one or more of the following regions: Asia-Pacific, the

Caribbean, Middle East & North Africa or Central Asia.

Good

communication skills in English are essential as this is the Board’s working

language, including all documents. Most of the work is done by phone, email and

through two in-person meetings a year. For more information on ICASO and the

Board, see http://www.icaso.org/board.html. These are unpaid appointments,

but ICASO will reimburse expenses related to twice-yearly Board meetings held

in Canada and abroad. The position will be held in an individual capacity

rather than with any organizational affiliation the person may have.

To apply,

please submit a CV/resume and a statement (maximum two hundred words) stating:

1) the position you are applying for; 2) why you want to become a part of

ICASO; 3)

what skills and experience you will bring to the position, and; 4) contact

details of two references.

Send to icaso@....

Application

deadline: 30 September, 2009

ICASO is

committed to equal opportunities and is proud of its diverse Board and

employees. People living with HIV are particularly encouraged to apply.
