AFRICAN HEALTH FOUNDATION2006 International Conference on AIDS Orphans and Vulnerable ChildrenAugust 26, 2006

Sub-Saharan Africa constitutes merely 10% of the world's population, but over 67% of all people living with HIV worldwide. This staggering asymmetry has resulted in a growing population of orphaned children, with limited means of receiving care, sustenance, and education. The 2006 Conference on AIDS Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) will highlight the reeling impact of HIV and AIDS on children.

The conference will showcase a community-based care prototype intended to provide sustainable solutions to the AIDS orphans crisis in rural sub-Saharan Africa. The conference will provide a forum for charitable, scientific, and political communities to share ideas and develop new strategies for alleviating the plight of children affected by the AIDS epidemic.

Additionally, the conference will examine the burden of AIDS orphans care on immigrants from developing countries and offer suggestions on how to formulate an effective response.
