No such thing http://www.nccn.net/~wwithin/vaccine.htm is my webpage Get him to read too - if you can. Its really hard when you don't agree in a marriage - good reasons to go over these things before you have kids - but most people don't even know about this issue when you have kids. If he knew as much as I do about this issue, he'd run the other way as fast as he could from vaccines. I keep telling him that this one needs to be OUR decision, not just mine. I believe there are risks either way you go, and as I believe you said, you have to pick which side you think holds the greatest risk. One of the main things that made my mind up about not vaccinating is the fact that medicine today is much better then it was when a lot of the original ones came out, like the DPT and MMR, etc. I feel that should my children develop any of these AND have a bad case, we at least have a fighting chance, where as if they are damaged from the shots, it's a done deal - there is no full recovery from that. Those are just some of my thoughts on it. Kathy
Guest guest
Lori...Hi, glad to see you here. My husband was the same way, but after I presented him with everthing I had and discussed it all with him, he changed his mind. Hopefully, yours will too. I started out with a book called, Vaccinations:The Issue of Our Times, put out by Mothering mag editors... Guest guest
Hi Lori, It looks as though we're local... I'm in Arlington, VA (just moved here from Richmond), right across the Key Bridge from town. My little boy is two months old, and we're not vaccinating him. What cinched it for me was not only the research that I did, multitudes of articles and a few books that I read, but the observation that all those I encountered who were not vaccinating their children were educated about their decision. They were intelligent people who had come to a logical decision after weighing the information. On the other hand, those people I met who were adamantly pro-vaccination, were operating on blind faith in the medical profession. I've never met anyone who actually took the time to research vaccinations and still had their child injected. I wish I could help you with your husband, but I've been lucky... my husband has come to trust my judgement (and my researching skills) and is accepting of my (now our) decision. I can tell you, though, that it's probably best to draw the line at discussing the issue with anyone other than your husband... extended families can get nutty about what they think is best for your child. Also, regardless of whether or not your pediatrician leans on you in the future, stand firm and know that you're doing what's best for your baby. If he/she becomes incorrigible, then go elsewhere. There are TONS in the area. I'd like to say, " let me know if I can help " , but I don't know that I can... unless you just need a sympathetic ear to sort things out. If so, feel free to contact me. Otherwise, I'll just wish you the best of luck Take care, Amber & Arlo Olwyn wrote: > hello, everyone. i've just subscribed to this list and i look forward > to learning all i can about vaccinations. i have an amazing 4 month old > daughter, winifred, and i really don't want to vaccinate. however, my > husband, after initially being unsure, decided that he wants our child > vaccinated. now, i don't have all the facts by any means, but what i > have learned thus far really makes me nervous. i've already turned down > the hep b vax after having to submit /my/ records to my daughter's > pediatrician so he was /sure/ that i didn't have hep b (sigh). that day > i had to sign some 'cya' thing for him--no problem. but now my husband > wants her to begin vaxs and she has her 4 mo. app't next week. i still > intend to turn them down, at the very least stave them off til she's 2 > years old. i don't know of many folks in our area (washington, dc) > personally that choose not to vaccinate. my husband said that if i > could find objective materials to support not vaxing, he'd then consider > it, but everything's with a spin. help! i intend to read the archives > here and am waiting on 'how to raise a healthy child in spite of your > dr.' from amazon. basically, i'm scared for her. i really feel that > vaxing is big business, and that's why they are pushed so heavily. the > pediatrician isn't leaning on me to vax (yet), but i wonder how > congenial he'll be as time goes on. most of my family is quite > concerned that i don't want to vax. my brother and his wife haven't > vaxed their 2 yr. old, but they are out in colorado. > > i guess i'll stop there. i don't know what else to tell you all for > background but i'm a stay at home mum...i guess that is it. i look > forward to learning so much from all of you. > > cheers, > lori

Guest guest
My name's Trish, I'm almost 23. I have heterochromia induced from an illness I had when I was a child. The right eye is breen and the left is blue. I got sick when I was five and became light sentitive afterward. When I was nine, I noticed the eyes had lightened considerably and the right one had a different tint. When I was twelve, everyone else noticed it also. It's very apparant in direct or bright light, and much more subdued in multi-spot omni's (like where I work). That's about it. I'm going to go see if I can upload a couple of pictures. nice to meet you everyone.
