The job description, required qualifications and application instructions are below. GRASSROOTS COORDINATOR The Global AIDS Alliance's Grassroots Coordinator will advance GAA's goals through grassroots mobilization, media and public education, internet, and coalition building. Specific responsibilities will include the following: · Assist in coordinating GAA's monthly teleconference to review policy developments and coordinate grassroots strategy and tactics; · Provide support to GAA's grassroots activists via regular email and phone calls, and follow up as needed to provide specific materials requested to facilitate local activities. Where appropriate and feasible, conduct local organizing in support of activist requests; · Lead in researching, writing, and distributing regular email action alerts and support the development of bimonthly policy updates; · Write and edit background materials to facilitate grassroots activism targeting policymakers and the media; · Support targeted grassroots campaigns related to specific policy goals; · Support GAA's grassroots activists in their efforts to coordinate meetings with policymakers; · Support GAA grassroots activists in their efforts to generate local media; · Lead efforts to maintain GAA's database of grassroots supporters; · Assist in researching and writing media materials, including background and briefing materials; · Assist in pitching journalists to secure news and editorial coverage of GAA's policy goals; · Support Communications Director in managing GAA's online activist engagement center, including posting action alerts and other grassroots materials as needed; · Support Development Director in maintaining GAA's website, including researching, writing, editing, and posting new content as needed; · Support Development Director in writing and distributing GAA's newsletter; · Report to the Communications Director. Coordinate all website updates with the Development Director. Qualifications: B.A. required. Prefer 2-3 years experience with grassroots activism required, including online engagement and local coalition building. Experience with media relations, including pitching media and securing press coverage. Experience with constituent management systems and website management desirable. Outstanding interpersonal and speaking skills. Excellent writing and editing skills. Strong knowledge constituent management systems and database management. Basic knowledge HTML and photo editing software. Willingness to travel. This full-time staff position will be located in GAA's Washington, D.C., office. Salary will be based on relevant experience.
