My name is Kim and I am a heterochromic :-) I am 35 years old.

When I was a baby, the doctor told my mom that if my eyes didn't

change by the time I was 6 months old they would be like this

forever. Both my parents and my siblings all have blue eyes, and I

have one blue/green and one brown. When I was younger, my one eye

was very blue, but as I get older it seems to have gotten a little

darker blue/green, depending on what I am wearing. My Great Aunt on

my father's side had something similar but hers was harder to

detect. I believe her eye color was a blue & gray or a green &

gray. My pappy was very proud of my eyes and would show them/me off

to everyone we met. However, I was very self-conscious and still to

this day am. I don't know about the rest of you growing up, but

kids in my school were cruel. They called me names such as Siberian

Husky, witch eyes and said I was possessed. It's funny that now

everyone thinks it's so cool. When I needed to get contacts I was

already married and my husband didn't want me to get colored

contacts. He said he fell in love with me the way I was and that I

should be proud of it. So, I have never worn anything to disguise

my eyes.

For the longest time, on my driver's license I would just put my eye

color as brown. Then several years ago they finally added the

dichromatic to the list and I was so happy! Finally a name for

it/me :-)

I never knew there was any other name until I visited my

dermatologist last week. I knew that Bowie had the same

thing... and " Asa Buchanan " from " One Life to Live. " It's nice

to " belong " !!!
