I have 5 grandchildren who are facinatated by my eyes, so will be facinatated by your book too. I also have 3 daughters, none have inhereted my eyes. When I get the book, I will read it and then write a review on the website. My story is very similar to yours. My mum said like most babies I was born with blue eyes, one started to turn brown, she waited for the other to turn, but didn't! I am now 50 years old and until recently I had not seen anyone else with different coloured eyes, and didn't even know it had a name, so was always quite self conscious of it, but don't feel quite so bad knowing there are other people out there just like me! As a child I had a difficult time, and was teased and even bullied at times, because of my eyes, so your book may be of help to children who have heterochromia, and are having a difficult time like I did. Didn't realize this email account named me as "Freelance Writer"... how boring lol. I remember just once being bullied in grade school about my eyes. This was in the late 1960s/early 1970s in a small racially divided town in the US... A little girl of color taunted me that my dad couldn't be my real dad because of my eyes (my bio parents both have blue eyes), that my real dad must be a man of color... of course she didn't use language as sensitive as I am using here, and I was just crushed that someone in my class was taunting me that my dad wasn't my real dad. I remember running home crying to my mom who very thoughtfully reminded me that God wanted me to be unique/special so he gave me one blue eye and one brown eye. This has probably been discussed before on this list, but I heard (though I haven't researched it) that people with heterochromia were thought to be witches in days of yore. Anyone have info on that? I can't wait to read it to my Grandson- I have had one green/blue eye and one brown eye since I was a baby--(now old enough to be a Grandma) None of my kids or Grandkids (so far) have been blessed with this unique trait. The story goes that my Dad told my Mom he "wouldn't claim a brown eyed child".. what could he say when I turned up with only one? I only wish there had been a book like this when I was younger. I am sure my grandchildren are going to love it. I will be writing a review on amazon.co.uk in the next day or 2. The story line is fun, the illustrations are super cute, and it's an all-around great children's book. I'd recommend it to anyone on here who has kids, heterochromatic or otherwise.
