Guest guest Posted November 1, 2007 Report Share Posted November 1, 2007 AIDS Cell of the Ibn Sinā Academy, Aligarh (India), organized a meeting with the exhibition of all paraphernalia, on 31st October 2007 of thoughtful and committed volunteers in the field of HIV/AIDS. The meeting was called on as a part of 'house party' program of ‘Global AIDS Alliance’ of Washington DC (USA) under the chairmanship of Padma Shri Prof. Syed Zillur Rahman (President, Ibn Sinā Academy of Medieval Medicine & Sciences). In the meeting, firstly it was discussed programs of PEPFAR. All members were agreed that the Global Fund earmarked is still short of at least $8 billion for the fight of AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and there is a need of fund raising in addition to ensure that the next President of US will be commited with its fair share to fight these diseases. All members also signed the ‘Citizen’s Pledge’ prepared by ‘Global AIDS Alliance’ in asking the next President of the United States to create, support, and fund a comprehensive plan to address the HIV/AIDS pandemic. In the meeting, discussions were also held to hold various functions on the occasion of World AIDS Day in 2007 (1.12.2007). Like last year, it was decided to organise a symposium on socio-medical implication of HIV/AIDS. Eminent speakers comprising of medical, social, legal and religious personalities, shall be invited as guest speakers to deliver lectures on different aspects of the HIV/AIDS problem. In addition, specific sessions will be kept for video show, school visit, and demonstration of posters, CDs and Voices of AIDS patients. It was also suggested to review these programs round the year. Following members were present in the meetings: Dr. Abdul Latif, Dr. Tasawwer Hussain, Mr. S. H. Zahid Jamal, Dr. Mohd Shahid, Dr. Syed Ziaur Rahman, Dr. M. Tauheed Ahmed, Mrs. Nazneen Rahman, Dr. Shoeb Ahmad, Dr. Abdullah, Dr. Monil Singhai, Dr. Mahvish Haider, Dr. Amrit Goel, Dr. Misbahuddin, Dr. Varun Gupta, Dr. Mohd Aslam, Mr. M. Ayub, Mr. S. M. Gauhar Ali, etc. The meeting ended with refreshment along with poetry recitation of Dr. M.
