Thank you!* Advocacy to Control Tuberculosis Internationally (ACTION) is hosting an interactive training and planning workshop on 8 November 2007 in Cape Town, South Africa during the 38th Union World Conference on Lung Health (http://www.worldlunghealth.org). The 38th Union World Conference on Lung Health will include over 2000 participants from more than 100 countries. The fact that this year’s World Conference on Lung Health is being held in Cape Town provides important opportunities to address the emergence of extensively drug-resistant strains of TB (XDR-TB), the deadly linkage of drug resistant TB and HIV, and the critical need for scaling up effective treatment now and increasing support for R & D for new drugs, diagnostic tools and vaccines. During the ACTION workshop, participants will discuss best practices in advanced advocacy, review case studies of successful, cutting-edge TB advocacy efforts, and develop partnerships and strategic plans for upcoming opportunities. Preliminary information is below.
