Guest guest
There is something you can take for Uric Acid buildup. Atkins mentions it in his book.
Guest guest
Can you tolerate Black Cherry juice? I don't know about using it with the Candida, but drinking it with seltzer water or club soda should help the gout. I understand it breaks up the deposits. Also, my pastors doctor had him taking Cranberry Juice (all he could drink) to break up and help him pass the kidney stones. Almonds might help with some calcium and protein to aid the Hypoglycemia, and I'd surely have some kind of meat, even if it is fish like canned salmon or Mackeral, or sardines to make sure you have enough protein. Without that the hypoglycemia will get out of control. Then you don't feel like getting the exercise you need as an O. Look up the Candida protocol for O and follow what Dr D says to help that. Hope this will help. New " kid " on the block > Hi everyone, > > I have a dilema... I want to know that I'm not the only person like > me out there. Guest guest
According to Atkins' book page 308 in his FAQs, there are 2 things you can do and still be on the low carb diet. Increase your carbs ot take a prescription drug allopurinol.
Guest guest
Hi there, I'm already on the allopurinol. I had to use it after my kidney stone surgery (much to my chagrin!) And they found the kidney stones to be composed of uric acid, which is also what causes the gout. According to the medical findings, uric acid build up is a product of not being able to process purine (protein) properly. I was on a low carb/high protein diet just as Dr. D suggests when I came down with gout and kidney stones, but my naturopath is beginning to suspect that candida is the reason I'm not dealing with protein properly. So...another diet. This was an anti-candida cleanse. I am now finished the program, but I know I have to do it again. But thank you for the info! I appreciate the response. Guest guest
Hi Kathy, I was doing black cherry juice (and loving it!) when I first came down with gout. Unfortunately it didn't seem to do anything, and after 6 months I stopped using it daily. I still drink it occassionally, just because I love the taste! *grin* But it sure wouldn't hurt me to go back on it daily. As for water... I drink between 3 and 4 litres (I think that's a gallon in US terms)per day. Being on allopurinol kind of forces you to drink that much! Please don't tell me I need more! Me and the bathroom have become close friends as I spend more time in there than I do in bed. My husband is getting jealous! The carrots thing was just a joke.. as I don't even like carrots. But I didn't realize that they could affect the yeast. I will be even more careful not to have any! I have just come off an anti-yeast cleanse given to me by my naturopath, and it did clear up a lot of issues... but I'm sure I will have to go on another one. I am going to wait until my body adjusts to being vegetarian again though. (Being veggie is not my idea... my body has just started rejecting meat. I almost hurl every time I look at it and not even seafood tempts me.) I do take an EFA suppliment, and I use a lot of olive oil, so I think I'm ok with the fats... my skin is still a little dry, so I'm sure it wouldn't hurt me to bump up my dosage a bit. The idea about the ph test is something I hadn't thought of at all! I will get some and do that right away. Thanks so much for all of your ideas and support. I think it's just going to take some time and effort. I guess I was just getting very depressed because I have worked so hard for so long and things just seem to be getting worse not better. Guest guest
Hi , As I said to Kathy, I will try going back on it full time, if only for the fact I love it so much! I do drink a fair amount of cranberry juice normally, but after my kidney stone surgery it seems that cranberry juice tends to make my kidney ache. Not sure why that is. I try to use at least two servings of almond butter a day to help with the protein, but I have to be very careful not to go over my limit every day. I do eat eggs, soy cheese and soy protein powder as well, as necessary for getting my proteins, along with black beans and tofu and all the other nummy things I should! As for the meat, I wish I could. I have tried everything to get back to eating meat, but I just can't stomach it. I have never liked meat, but now even seafood (that used to be my favorite!) I can't eat. It literally makes me sick to my stomach to even look at it. What a horrible thing for a type O to say, huh? *grin* I have not looked up the candida protocol for a long time! I will do that again immediately. I had reread all of his books about a year ago and didn't remember that he had talked about it until you reminded me!! Thanks so much. Thank you for your help and support, I know that this too shall pass, but some days it seems like I will never get there! Darian

Guest guest
HI , Sorry for the delay in answering. I was going through my Dr. D books while I was out of town. Never checked my email! *grin* I know that I'm not getting enough of the green leafy veggies, or I wasn't at the time as I'm trying a lot harder now, but I was/am taking a calmag suppliment. My magnesium tested slightly low, but not too terrible. I'm not sure that it's the same kind of kidney stones that you are thinking about. There are three kinds, and mine are uric acid stones... so I know that makes a difference as to the cause. I'm not sure about whether the magnesium will help with uric acid or not, but I am trying to up all of my veggies anyway. Thanks for the advice! Guest guest
Hi Kathy, An interesting thought about not absorbing the water. I drink my 4 litres of water a day and am still thirsty and feeling dried out... in fact, the more I drink the more dried out I feel. I have never heard of Penta water, but I will check with the health food store to see if they can get it for me. I live in a remote area of northern British Columbia, so we don't really have access to a lot of things. Do you have a manufacturer's name or some way of reaching them? My health food store is great about ordering things in when they don't have it. Thanks, Darian > Darian, > > Make sure the juices you drink are not sweetened with > sugar or artificial sweeteners. Guest guest
Hi, I would like to congratulate you on your choice. You are a smart lady, who has spent some time educating yourself--way to go. Congratulations to you and welcome to my world. I can't say I was overweight all my life. So I have been slim then had children and just let my weight get out of control and felt so helpless like you for way too many years. I have also been on all the diets in the world, tried all kinds of things. I think my best success was Weight Watchers, but I could never stick with it--trust me it has nothing to do with being weak or anything like that. This is going to be an amazing journey for you. Your life as you know it now will change from this point. You are ready to do this and you have your head in the right place. Dr. Aceves, is an amazing surgeon and his staff is fabulous. Everything that anyone has said about him is sooooooooooooo true. The hospital is cleaner than anyone you will find in the USA. One thing that I always suggest is that you go to the photo's and check out a lot of the before and after pictures that people have posted on this web site--they are some amazing pictures posted on this site. I try to always add new pictures about every month. It really motivated me to actually feel like WOW this is something that just might work for me and I can be just like these people in the pictures. I also thought "what if I am the ONE person this won't work on????" Well, it works for anyone who uses the sleeve as their tool to achieve the weight loss that they want. It won't just melt off of you, it take work on your part too, by eating the right things and doing some exercise (a words we all hated to hear.) I am thrilled you spoke up and let us know that you were out there. We are your support system and will take you through this ever step of the way. It is normal to feel all the feelings that you are going to feel. Please keep coming back and asking any questions that you might have. There are no stupid or bad question. We have all had questions. I am excited for you too! Hugs, Suzanne 225 140 125 Start Now Goal Sleeved 10/21/08 In a message dated 8/13/2009 1:01:25 P.M.
