My son works for Nike and what they are doing is called "Vanity Sizing". So what every garment maker does is create there own sizing and so that is why in some clothing you will wear a size 12 and another it will be a size 10. The sizes have changed so much in the last 25 years compared to what they used to be. So ladies they are just trying to make us all feel better. Old Navy is the one he says who really are the worst for wanting you to feel good out the size of the pants!

Hi Sleeve sistah!I know what you mean. I wear size 14, 12, and 10..The 12's work the best though. Munufacotrs just dont seem to have a system in place. Your right, when I was a 24 I was a 24 no matter what clothes maker. From: Jackie <jackieandgirls24@...>Subject: Not complaining but... Date: Monday, November 1, 2010, 7:52 AM

So can someone explain to me how sizes on clothes actually work? Last year I was wearing a 20/22 didnt matter wear I bought them I was ALWAYS a 20/22 Now I have a sz 14 that I can barely button, a sz 12 that fit, size 10 that fit and this weekend tried on a pr of sz 8 that I wont say fit but I can button them.I bought the smaller size because I'm going somewhwere warm for vacation in a couple months and have NO summer clothes. So I am anywhere between a 14 and a 8- thats a huge span dont ya think?? What do you say when some one asks what size you are?

Sizes from designers stores like Nordstrom will run more true. When clothes are more mass produced the sizes will range tremendously. So if you really want to know your size try on some Vercace .... :)Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerryFrom: Regina Bullock <daisyfaye88@...>Sender: Date: Mon, 1 Nov 2010 09:59:46 -0700 (PDT)< >Reply Subject: Re: Not complaining but... I know just what you mean its crazy. Sounds like you and I are just about the same. I say a size 12 because thats what the majority of what I'm trying on and buying are. But if I buy at Old Navy their sizes run a size lower. I say they do that to make us feel good. lol Works for me. But today there seems to be no answer for sizes. My friend who is at her goal weight gets things from 8-4 all at Target. But doesn't it feel good girl? I put on my first tight tight skinny black hip huggers like crack showing low riders for Saturday night out to Rocky Horror and was hot baby. lol I had so much fun. Never thought I ever do that at 42!! Or ever in my life for that matter. Good luck and congrats on your weight loss. 5/15/10214 /156/130dos/now/goal From: Jackie <jackieandgirls24@...> Sent: Mon, November 1, 2010 10:52:20 AMSubject: Not complaining but... You say "It depends on where I shop........." That's it. I wear size 8 to size 12, depending on where I got them. I have a "Large" size blouse that fits beautifully and is one of my very favorites and several smalls that fit as well, too.

Ladies,

They call this "Vanity Sizing" and depending on where you are buying your clothing you will be all over the map. My son works for Nike (women's clothing) and he develops the clothing and what it will look like and fabric and size. He said this has been going on for about the last 10 to 15 years. They want your business and so if you think you are wearing a smaller size (even if it is a lie) then you tend to go back and buy that brand so that you can "say I wear a size 2 or 4 or 6) and in reality you may really wear a 6 8 or 10. It is all in your head and they have learned this and they are taking BIG advantage of it.

Enjoy what ever size is that you wear. You have earned the right to wear much smaller clothes than you ever did before!

I hear you. I wear a size 2 in some JCrew shorts I have, a 4 in others.

Some manufacturer's jeans (JBrand) I wear a size 26, and some 26s are

too big. I was trying to figure this whole size thing myself, but it's

all over the map.

That may be true of Nike, I have no personal knowledge of how they size clothing which is pretty much sports-related clothing, right? We're not talking haute couture here. Premier designer labels size accurately to the SMALL size if they are off at all. In other words, they do not say something is a size 2 if it's really a size 4, God forbid, they're be some riot on the runway or something! LOL! So I pretty much think it has to do with what clothing you're buying and where you're buying it. If you're buying something designer that's made to fit tight, trust me, it's going to be sized accurately. If you visit online retailers Nordstrom, NM, Saks, et al., you can see buyers' reviews of items and if it's true to size fit. I rely on these reviews when pondering an online purchase, and if anything, the reviewer will say (if there's an issue) it's smaller than expected; rarely is the item larger than expected. Clothing manufactures who mass produce are the ones doing the "vanity" sizing as they are trying to get sales up, obviously.
