Rita, I understand about the 'got to do what you have to do bit'! I did it for years and as a result I am now a wreck with a back that is hell to live with. If you have RA you are at particular risk and while I can't say how you go about it, I do know that in the USA you do have some very strict Occupational Health laws. Is there a trolley you can put them on so you don't actually carry them for any way? Try and make a plan, one does not think it is important till it is too late.

Hugs,

Joan

Lifting

<<Rita - those are mighty heavy bags to lift and I would think at least 6 weeks but really you should think seriously about lifting that weight at all - is it not an occupational health hazard or have I got my lbs and kilos mixed up ?Joan>>Joan,Thanks for the advice. I wish I did NOT have to lift them and some of the time the boys who work back in the kennel head me off to get whatever I need in the stock room and bring it up for me. Other times, I am on my own when everyone else is busy doing what they are suppose to be doing, ya know? I have RA and lifting that much has always been a concern for me, but ya do what you have to do. I have surprised myself and been able to do it regularly, always careful to lift correctly of course!,Your daughter is 30# and they said you can lift her? Wow! I know for a fact my doc said no lifting heavy things for sometime after my SX, I just couldn't rememeber the time line. I think I will wait a few more weeks and then move to the heavier stuff. Rita

Hi all

Kristi here. 5 weeks post op down 30 lbs. Woo Hoo look at me. I have a question

maybe somebody can help me with. Like I said I am 5 weeks post op and today I

did something I probably should not have done. I lifted a bag about 75 lbs, but

I am thinking that probably isn't a problem I just wanted some input from other

people who have had the sleeve.

Wow, that's great! Took me 3 mos. to lose 30 lbs.so you're doing fantastic. The lifting restriction is because Dr. A doesn't want you to get a hernia. I was told not to lift anything heavier than a 2 yr. old child and not to lift weights at the gym more than 5 lbs and then only after 3 mos. I'm sure I exceeded the 5# requirement many times with a bag of groceries, etc. Experts on this site will tell you if you damaged yourself with the 75# but don't do it again. You probably have a lot of energy and don't feel as if you've had surgery but you are still healing inside. Baby yourself and ask for help until you're 3 mos. out.
