Guest guest
Of course, whatever works! If you're happy with your weight loss and getting in all the nutrients you need, more power! You surely have special needs as a diabetic that most of us do not have. All the Inamed patient care guides, as well as Jessie's Band book, and Dr Ortiz 's, and Dr Ren's (upcoming) , state that liquid calories are to be avoided . My book with Dr Kuri adds " in most cases. " . To quote directly from the several Inamed guides: " Drink as many calorie-free liquids per day as you wish. Suitable liquids include tea, water, non-carbonated fluids with no or few calories, clear soup. " (page 32) It further states " eat mostly solid foods. Liquid foods pass right through the band and will sabotage your weight loss. " and " Milk and yogurt are calories in liquid form, so, in theory, should be avoided as should all liquid calories. However, milk and yogurt contain calcium that is important to the daily diet. Choose a maximum of 2 cups of skim milk a day... " WE all have choices to make, and it sounds as if yours are fine and working well with your special needs. doesn't get any better than that! (I'm not sure where all that protein and fiber is coming from in the foods you mention though..) The best to you - Sandy RN > > You need to make very major changes. You > need to start all over and learn to eat much better if you want to > get healthy again and live much longer. " I took that to heart. Guest guest
I suggest you try EAS AdvantEDGE Carb Control. They come in a 4-pack. I like the French Vanilla, Chocolate and Strawberry. I blend them with ice and a Splenda. Tastes very good. Has 17 grams of protein, 110 calories and 1 net carb. They are filling and tasty. You can add a fruit if you wish. I have done that but prefer them without. They are very economical and can be obtained at Wal-Mart. I have also found them in my local grocery store. Convenience and Cost! They are the best tasting for the money that I have found. Of course, Unjury is also very good but more expensive and purchased by mail order. Guest guest
I really liked a brand called "." Good stuff actually. I also posted a bunch of protein recipes late last summer, and they are on Dr. Aceves's site somewhere. -jimTeta007 <teta007@...> wrote: Can anyone tell me the brand of any GOOD TASTING protein drinks? Guest guest
I have a soy meal replacement protein drink ¿is that good to drink as good protein on the full liquid stage? Guest guest
I don't think you can drink it on the first 10 days after surgery, because it isn't a clear liquid, but after that yes, sure it is good. Guest guest
I just broke open my " NOW " non-flavored whey isolate protein powder (I'm on my two week pre-op diet - whoo hoo!). I was a little concerned, 'cause I bought the giant save-you-money package based soley on the reviews on the site. It is available in 1lb and 5lb bags, so you don't have to get the 10lb bag like I did. I am happy to report that: 1) it mixes completely with cold water. 2) there is absolutely no after taste 3) there is barely any taste at all - even licked off a dampened finger It does mix up like instant milk - it is not clear, but very white. It has the vaguest creamy taste. The closest I can compare it to would be milk, but even milder without that slightly sweet milk taste (and no gross instant milk taste). I drank it plain with no flavoring/sweetener whatsoever - just mixed with water - and it wasn't bad at all. Looked like milk, and kind of tasted like milk (ever so mildly). Since I'm low-carbing it at the moment I can't report on how it tastes mixed with juice, but based on the water taste I suspect you wouldn't even notice it was there. It will probably make the juice look weird, though, like it was mixed with milk, but not affect the taste. I bought it on Amazon, and it has 21 reviews, all 5 star (as would be mine). With s/h and tax, my total was $85.46. That's only 53 cents a serving, even less if you buy it directly from allstarhealth.com You can also go directly to allstarhealth which sells the 10lb bag for 69.95 pluse 5.95 s/h. The 10 lb bag has 162 servings. A serving is 28 grams (1/3 cup).
