Guest guest
I have a similar experience as Joanne. A good rule of thumb is to eat dinner before 6pm or so and after an hour a glass of water. This seems to flush everything and stop any backup. If I lay down too soon to when I ate, I will have the same situation. Sometimes just having a tiny unfill will also be just what you need. But try the water and eating early first. Good luck! In a message dated 3/1/2010 12:51:52 P.M. Pacific Standard Time, joannebodeen@... writes: Hi, I have been banded almost 3 years. Guest guest
It sounds like your band is too tight. First thing to check is if you need a little unfill. When I had this problem I started taking a proton pump inhibitor, the one that worked for me is Aciphex, it is a prescription. I went to my regular doctor, told him I'm having problems with acid in my stomach and could I try Aciphex, he gave me a prescription and away I go. If I stay on my pill EVERYDAY, I don't have the acid problem. If I'm a couple of hours off from taking it every 24 hours, I have acid come up.Good luck! Remember with the band that acid=problem. So don't mess around with it, it could have lasting problems and possibly lose your band if you are too tight and you don't get an unfill. A fill that may have worked for 2 years could be too much now. Our bodies are funny little beings that don't always care for your choice of WLS :) Let us know how you are doing! Guest guest
Hi, I wake up having acid reflux but not vomiting. I have had my band for 3 1/2 years and I too have lost 70 pounds then gained back 20. I haven't had a fill in a couple of years and have gained back 20 pounds. My chest always hurts and my lungs hurt like I have asthma. Getting revision surgery March 16 with Dr. Aceves. Can't wait. I think you should really see a doctor about that blood in your vomit. Could be many things. Good luck to you. > > > Please help. I have been banded for two years now and lately been having a lot of problems when I go to sleep. Guest guest
I wouldn't go to a GI doc that is not verrrry familiar with the band. Thing is, the anatomy is so much different and they won't know what they are looking for after banding. It is COMMON for them to tell you that you have mega swelling and you need your band removed THAT DAY. ;o) It's actually the pass through from your upper to your lower stomach. Happened to me, happens to a lot of people. Also, if you are too tight the endoscope isn't going to fit through your stoma anyway. I'd do a bit of an unfill first. If you had a hiatal hernia Dr. Aceves would have fixed it during your surgery. While it's true that you could have developed one since surgery but you could check your OR report and see if he repaired one during surgery. Guest guest
Do you have any bad teeth. I had an infected tooth and besides the tooth hurting, the infection went into my stomach as bile and I do not know what " s --- " tastes like but this is worse!!! The sour stomach and toothache drove me the the dentist fast. Congrats on your weight lost. I had sleeve Nov 14th and has lost 46 pounds plus 25 beforehand, I feel like the old me is on the way back.
