Guest guest
Hi Kim, and welcome goes out to you from all us bandsters. Good Job getting your protein " stocked up " . I prefer Unjury, myself, I live about 60 miles from our closest shopping area, so I am on a monthly auto ship...what a lifesaver, also saves 10% and also keeps shipping charges to a minimum. As for your trip back, make sure and take a thermos with Hot water in it, you can add Unjury Chicken Soup to it and sip it all the way home, it has 20 gm of protein per scoop. Make sure you take plenty of Propel water (or powdered propel to add to bottled water). Get chewable generic " flintstone " vitamins, chewable calcium, and stock up up on the sugar free " jello " , (that can also be added to hot water to make a filling drink)you can also find the generic jello for 3/$1 at grocery stores like Winco, Food Max, etc. I just found a recipe for very low calorie whipped cream you make at home out of non-fat milk, 1/6 the calories of coolwhip!! After your first 10 days you can have sugar/fat free pudding also, with fresh fruit and whipped cream, what a treat for less than 100 calories!! (hard to find good strawberries anywhere now though). I don't know where I got the impression you were driving, but you can always put your powdered protein mix in little snack size zippies if you are flying. Decalf blackberry tea is yummy and very good for you, anything that comes from berries are anti-oxidants. Your'e in for the ride of your life, you can get really creative. I don't know what kind of support group you have (besides us bandsters here) but I frankly let EVERYONE know about my band, I am soooo proud of it!! It also gives you support even when you don't want it...my daughter told me at the Thanksgiving dinner " Mom, are you sure your'e not eating too much??? " Everyone cares and when you let people know, you have to be on your best behavior, there are " babysitters " everywhere!!! Oh, by the way, after your first 5 days s tomato soup made with milk instead of water is great. Hope your'e not addicted to sodas or caffine, a caffine headache can be a real killer. I got my own coffee pot and make both our coffee the night before so I have a nice hot cup of decaf first thing in the morning. (put a timer on it) Well, I guess I've rambled on enough, good luck and prayers go out to you, you made a good decision to go with the " A " team, you won't regret it!! Guest guest
Kim, between our drive from the hospital to the aiport, the flight back to Chicago and the drive home we were traveling about 11 hours. We made sure to stand, walk and stretch every hour or so and just sipped on water or some other clear liquid. (my sis had apple juice on the plane). You really won't want much of anything and the traveling is simply an obstacle to be overcome. I had packed spoons, Unjury Chicken broth and cups in the van so that we could get hot water from a gas station and make broth if we were in need of something hot on the way home but we were simply anxious to get home and get into our beds. I personally didn't need pain meds other than whatever the hospital gave me prior to leaving. You'll do fine as long as you stand and walk whenever possible and sip clear fluids. <kcgirl559@...> wrote: 1/12/08 is just around the corner, the nerves are starting to kick in.I am excited, anxious, and scared all in one.
