Sylvia, the first six weeks after surgery are for healing, not

losing, so any weight you lose before your first fill is a " BONUS "

even if other people are losing more. (You're right, it's NOT a

race!)

Having said that, your diet is a little low in protein. You should

aim for 60-70 grams/day in protein; (and 25 grams/day of fiber,

which is hard to get without supplements at this stage) if you do

that, you probably won't have room for mashed potatoes, rice, etc.

With such a limited volume of stuff we can eat now, we have to make

every bite count!

Good luck!

Wow! 7 pounds in the last 8 weeks is hardly what I call not losing! You're doing great. You're proceeding at a safe weight loss rate. My weight loss was about the same throughout my entire process -- .94 lbs per week until I got to goal. It looks to me like you are doing fantastic. I, like you, wanted it all gone yesterday, but that's not how we gained it or lived with it and it isn't how we lose it, generally speaking. One of the things I said to myself as I was losing weight so slowly was that I was getting to practice patience not only for this and other areas of my life but for the future, when I got to goal and didn't have anymore weight to reasonably lose. THEN WHAT? I would have to be patient with weighing my perfect weight. Hmmmmm.......That's where I am now....having to be patient with my

perfection. Who ever thought THAT would be hard. But whatever patience I have, I need, believe me. So be glad for the practice. It will not be foreign to you when you get to your goal.

I understand the candy and sweet craving. Candy goes down so easily, doesn't it. There is a technique to deal with cravings that I have learned. I'll send it to you via personal email.

Hang in there. You're doing great!

Hey everyone,I am having a problem loosing weight. I we sleeved by Dr. A Nov. 4 08. I have lost almost 65 pounds but have lost only about 7 pounds in the last 2 months. Any suggestions on what to do to speed up the weight loss? I have physical limitations so can not do a lot of thing I would like to do and work out like I wish I could, but I am trying to be more active.I try to eat right and stay away from the things that I know I should not eat. I can not eat bread because it makes me sick, so that is a good thing. It makes it easier. I still love the taste of sweets and chocolate especially. I know that these cravings are head hunger, but I still struggle. Any advise as to what to do to help with the cravings? What kinds of foods can I eat to help me loose weight faster?I do want to say that I love my sleeve and am feeling much better than I did 6 months ago. I just wish I could loose the weight faster.Help

please.ThanksStart/now/goal315/ 252/ 145

Hi ,

You say you have physical limitations. You need some form of exercise and have you thought of swimming or walking in the water? Water always seems to be a form of exercise that most people can do. Protein is very important too, so make sure you have enough of that with some good steamed veggies. I know that sweet things sound like they are your hang-up, so you have to ask yourself what are you willing to give up. And if you are older it is harder to lose the weight the older you are--I am old, so I know this for a fact. It is coming off, and the weight loss does slow down, but keep doing what you know are the right things to do.

Walking is good too, just walk a little longer each day. This is a real head game and you have to make the choice not to play it.

Take care,

Suzanne

If you aren't exercising you aren't going to maintain your muscle mass and so you will lose slower.  You'll have to find a way to really get out there and move.On Wed, May 6, 2009 at 9:00 AM, dees3dogs <dees3dogs@...> wrote:

Thanks everyone for the in-put. I am trying very hard to do the things I know I need to do. I can walk very little due to back problems and hip problems. I have recently had 3 injections in my hip and am hoping that it will get better. I also am legally blind and do not drive. It is hard for me to get transportation to the gym to do the water exercise. I live in a rural area and we don't have public transportation here in my area of the county. I have 2 exercise machines and can not use either of them because of the hip issue, so as you can see, I am limited. I know the weight would come off faster if I could get access to the pool and I will try to arrange for transportation. Thanks again for the help and encouragement.

Hi ,

I do understand better now what you limitations are. Please check and see if there are some things available for transportation because of your limitations. If there are then try to go to a pool some place at least 3 times a week if possible. I believe you would feel a lot better. We are very proud of the fact that you have lost this much weight. It is coming off slowly and, just not as fast as you would like it too--that is OK because it is coming off.

Take care,

Suzanne
