Guest guest
Diane: This is Lynne, Sis' docs told her not to run, jump, or rough house play. She got her port July. Don't know if that helps. She also can't jump on the trampoline, but that doesn't matter, a storm with winds of 70 wrapped the thing around one of our trees last week. We had it tied down too!! Guest guest
Hate to say it but if he hit a growth spurt it might be a little tight. Might just take some getting use to. Ports are replaced on growing children every so often to keep the length of the catheter in the right place in the superior vena cava. Just a thought. Guest guest
Wow, Ursula, I never thought about that but Kody is taller than when he first got the port. I'll definitely ask about it. He says it doesn't hurt alot but it must hurt enough if he mentioned it. He hardly ever says something hurts so when he does I know to take him seriously. Thanks for the input, I bet that is what is happening! Diane, Mom to Kody
Guest guest
Hi, Tamara. This morning, my husband and I were just looking at my notes that I have kept on my surgery, recovery and weight loss. That gives me a comment on your question. I have mentioned about 10 days after my surgery that my port was still sore and bothersome. I think you are probably quite " normal " . Liquid and pureed phases... every individual to each surgeon. My personal opinion... never hurts for a doctor to be conservative but it can hurt for a surgeon to be too quick sometimes. So, follow your doctor's plan and know that you will probably loss during this time better than you would if you were eating " real " food. Best of luck with your band. Reply- Subject: port question Date: Sat, 25 Sep 2004 01:28:22 EDT The area around my port feels sore to the touch even though everything else seems to be feeling better. I'm 10 days post-op so pain is still to be expected, but it just seems odd that, for the most part, I'm only sensitive right around my port. Not sure if this is normal. Any other experiences with this? Another question: how long have other people been put on the liquid and pureed diet phases after surgery? Mine seems longer than others that I've heard. Just curious. Thanks! ~Tamara
Guest guest
The port incision is the largest and deepest, and takes the longest to heal. It is often sore for several weeks. A warm heating paad several times a day will speed healing. The diets you're asked to follow depend on your doc and his/her beliefs. Other people and their docs really have no bearing on what your doc wishes for you. You chose this doc and will have a relationship with him for several years at the least, so if you're questioning something, plerase discuss it with him or her, and rach an agreement. Lots of things will come up like this in your band journey, so it's important to start the relationship with open questions and answers. Guest guest
To answer your question, my follow-up Dr. (Fox of Surgical Weight Loss Clinic, Tacoma WA) specifies pureed foods in weeks 5 & 6 and THEN soft foods in weeks 7 & 8 post-op. I think that's the longest of any US dr.'s plans. a, 33 y.o., 5'6'', lost 17 lbs in 4.6 weeks (gaining weight since starting on pureed/soft foods) highest 250, surgery 227, current 210, goal: wherever I stabilize Banded 8/26/04 - Dr. Rumbaut, Monterrey Mexico Follow-up: Dr. Fox, Surgical Weight Loss Clinic, Tacoma WA First fill tentatively scheduled for Oct 6 2004 currently on pureed foods (my Dr.'s orders 5-6 weeks post-op) // Another question: how long have other people been put on the liquid and pureed diet phases after surgery? Guest guest
> > Good morning: > > I was wondering if any of you who have had a lap band removed or a revision performed have hardness in the area where your port was located? I had to have my lapband removed due to slippage a couple of weeks ago and the area where my port was located is very hard and almost feels as if the port is still there. I am thinking that it may just be scar tissue or swelling that hasn't gone down yet but I was curious if anyone else experienced this. > > Thanks, > Rosie > Hello Rosie just wondering the cost of removing the lapband. And how do you know when your lapband slips. Thanks Sal
