Guest guest
Hi Donna, I can't answer for sleevers, but I bet if you weigh once or twice a week, enter your calorie, protein, and water intake on some kind of tracking system, take a daily vitamin, get plenty of sleep, and get some moderate exercise 4 or more times per week. . . You will be very happy with your results eventually. Sometimes our bodies simply hold onto wiehgt until it's physically safe to let more pounds go. We've all been there, afraid that WLS won't work for us either. We know failure, not success. Hang on. You'll be just fine. Guest guest
Somewhere I have a link that explains the infamous 50# plateau. Many experience the same thing. I don't remember the biology behind " 50# " but there is one. Give it time, it will come to an end. Change things around, do a different work out, change your caloric intake for a few days. A plateau is common for some reason around 50#. Guest guest
Thanks , It's weird because I used to be " banded " and lost 123 pounds in just a few months. But I WORKED my behind off. I was running everyday, watching everything I ate. But had to have the band removed because of a problem and wasn't allowed to have it put back in until I was healthy-so for 28 months I was gaining weight even though I was still doing the same thing as before I had the band removed.. The weight just wouldn't stay off. So now I had the sleeve done (2/13/08), I haven't had any problems until now.. It's weird.. Having the sleeve done I will NEVER be able to have more than 800 calories a day( per Dr. A) as well as I walk (and have just started lightly jogging), I'm watching what I eat and how much.. I'm taking in about about 350-450 cals a day so far... Plus my vitamins, protein and water...I do track the food and exercise on myplate.com... I still have a long way to go til my goal of 125, but I'm getting there, God willing.. I have lost almost 50 pounds... Guest guest
You probably need to shock your system. You need to change your eating pattern and exercise pattern. Your body gets in a rut and quits. You must restart it. Hope this helps. CB from Arkansas >> If anyone else who has the gastric sleeve has lost weight and then all of a sudden the scale > just stops dropping??? Guest guest
Donna, I had the sleeve and I have lost about 45 pounds now (in two months. I weigh myself every morning when i wake up at the same time and i am wearing the same nightgown. I have noticed that every once in a while the scale stays at the same weight for like 7 days and then suddenly plunges and I have also noticed that twice now I have gained a pound which causes major panic - but then it is lost in a day or two. I once heard that if you eat a high protein diet and then take in a carb that your body will hang on to the carb so you might gain a little if you are being really good with your protein and then slip on a piece of toast or something. I don't know if that is scientific, but it makes sense to me. You have lost 50 pounds in about 3 months - that is AMAZING and WONDERFUL and a very rapid weight loss. Congratulations. Guest guest
Donna, I swear sometimes our bodies are so confusing! I just got off of a 4 week liquid calorie diet and only lost a lb then gained it back! Only those close to me believe me that I stuck to 800 calories or less, and exercised. I wouldn’t have believed someone if they told me either! But it is true. I counted every calorie in fitday.com and was drinking mainly protein drinks, water, and some soups (yes I know these can be high in calorie and salt but I watched that too)Then I went back on solids, still only eating 800 calories a day and I started losing! I hear your frustration and I believe you! I am going in for a full physical to make sure there isn’t something going on. I also have hypothyroidism and even though just got that checked, I feel it may have something to do with it. Hang in there. Guest guest
Thanks Lindsey, I know I'm going crazy with the weight thing and that I should just relax. I don't mind the same weight fort a couple of days, what I do mind is that I've gained 3.5 pounds. I'm trying to think of what it might be and can't seem to come up with anything.. I even went on line to find out about my scale, I've read that the scale that I have ( Lithium Electronic- " The Biggest Loser " ) does have some problems-don't know if it has anything to do with me or the scale???? So I'll be changing up my diet, exercise to see.. Who knows... Thanks for the kick in the pants-hahaha Donna Bean 15 Via Marciana American Canyon, Ca 94503 707.853.5132-cell hotcalirunner@... calirunner88-AIM On Tuesday, May 06, 2008, at 05:55AM, " lpollard90 " <lpollard90@...> wrote: >Donna, >I had the sleeve and I have lost about 45 pounds now (in two months. >I weigh myself every morning when i wake up at the same time and i am >wearing the same nightgown. Guest guest
Thank , I know all to well about the " craziness " of the body... I have heard of it hanging on for a couple of days then letting go and dropping, but this is CRAZY!! I've held the same weight for almost 2 weeks now and the only direction the scale is going is up... I know I should just relax and change things up and everything will be ok.. But it's hard when you want something so badly.. Thanks for the kind words-they really do help.. It's nice to know that everyone has gone threw something like this and that there's nothing wrong with me-so to speak-hahaha.. hugs, Donna Bean 15 Via Marciana American Canyon, Ca 94503 707.853.5132-cell hotcalirunner@... calirunner88-AIM On Tuesday, May 06, 2008, at 06:12AM, " Mills " <tracy@...> wrote: >Donna, I swear sometimes our bodies are so confusing!
