Guest guest
Gail, How true that is. Of coarse trying to tell some people that is not to easy. My mil drinks this herbal blast tea. ( not really sure what it is called), but it has mahung in it. She thinks it is the greatest thing, because it is natural made with herbs. One more thing. I don't understand. Why don't companies stop selling this stuff if it is so bad for us? It makes me mad. I guess they just want money. Who cares about our health. :-( Geri In a message dated 4/19/00 1:01:53 PM Central Daylight Time, gailvw@... writes: << Ephedra is a very scary DRUG. Guest guest
Geri, You are very correct about the selling of these harmful products. Yesterday I posted an entire message discussing this very issue. The thing about it is, the herb called ephedra is very addictive, and until comsumers quit purchasing products that contain it, the manufacturers will continue to sell it. It is a very difficult substance to break oneself of, especially when using it for energy or weight control. I have to honestly say, it will give you a boost that makes caffiene look like candy, but will leave you with a horrible headache and the strong desire for more. Ehpedra also has the ability to make the user completely unaware of any hunger pangs their body may be sending. But remember, so does speed as well as many other illegal subtances. A great amount of the weight loss acheived when using ephedra, also comes from it powerful diaretic characteristics. I remember being so dehydrated from it's use that my husband literally had to hold open my eye, and pour distilled water on it, to allow my vision to return. My lips would bleed and my kidneys were constantly suffering from intense infection. Beyond these horrible attributes, it is necessary to increase the dosage to continue to receive the same feeling from it as in the beginning. When I finally decided to get off the stuff, I honestly slept, without waking, for over 20 hours. It took over a week, before I could function normally, and then, my appetite was ravenous. It was one of the most horrible experiences of my life, and I've had a few bad ones! I'm sorry if this post sounds like a downer, but it is a very serious issue and should not be taken lightly. Rashelle has some fabulous herbal diet capsules for sell on her web site. They are very effective and half the price of the harmful type. There is nothing in that bottle of capsules that will harm you, or cause your body to function unnaturally. If you are in need of such help, I would strongly recommend giving hers a try! Guest guest
Hi Tami, Yes, I remember reading what you wrote the other day about the diet pills. When I first had Sierra almost 3 years ago. I was so desperate I tried almost everything there was. Including spending about $200.00 a month on herbalife. I used that for about 3 months and got sick of spending the money, and not to mention all the pills I had to take everyday. I do admit the pills I took had Ma hung in them. At the time I did not think anything of it. Because it was " Natural. " Anyhow, I proceeded to lose some weight, but I gained it back when I stooped taking them. Then I went to weight watchers. Tried that. Lost some weight, but always felt deprived. ( I am not cutting any system down). I like weight watchers, ( I am a lifetime member in there) but I don't like that they are always pushing items like nutra sweet and fake fat items. I did not actually start losing weight until I stopped worrying about it. I eat what I want when I want, and how much I want. In other words I don't obsess about it. I also don't pig out either. I have learned to listen to my body and know when I am full. Back to the diet pill issue. I will have to check out Rashelles pills if I ever decide to take some. but at this point. I seem to lose weight without any. I am in a size 4 now, so I am pretty happy with that. Than again. I would love to be in a size two. But, we will see about that. sorry, this ended up being so long, Geri
Guest guest
Hi Cecilia, I am so glad you brought this up. It is Ephedra. Most of the products list it as MaHuang. The other thing they mentioned is the combination of this and Gurana, which is a natural form of caffeine. I have known for a very long time that these are ingredients to be very wary of. If you look on most diet herbs they will contain these ingredients. The ones I use do not have either, as I don't think anyone should be left feeling like they are on speed to lose weight, and the other issue is the danger to your health. Thanks for taking the time to point this out. It really is an important topic. Rashelle Be sure to check out all of the great specials available on my web sites. Someone was asking about this a few days ago, so I thought I'd share what I saw last night on Tv. It was a program called "dateline", they were saying that some diet pills are very dangerous. The aphederine products (I'm not sure of the spelling!) that expecially contain this herb called Ma Huang, can cause strokes, hearth attacks and death. Two people died for this. A lot of other people are fine and lost a lot of weight. But, why risk??? Guest guest
Ephedra is a very scary DRUG. I hear people say all of the time that if something is promoted as being herbal then it is ok. This is just not true. All drugs come from plants originally. My husband works for an MLM company that sells herbs (he is a computer guy. We do not sell any products and I will not mention the name of the company), their biggest seller is their weight loss pack. It is just loaded with ephedra. Around the office they call it herbal speed. We get free product from the company and we will not touch this stuff. Guest guest
Geri, I bet you look just great! A size four, you little tiny, thin woman you! I have found what you say about putting the weight loss issues aside and just living, to be the best medicine ever! I, too, eat what I want, when I want, and it is so incredibly freeing. It did take me a little bit of time to, Break out of food Jail, and learn the signals that my body was sending me. But now, by eating what I like, and adhering to the Life Lift workout, I am seeing some great results. I also use the Body Wrap system, and thankfully, just received a email from Rashelle that my last order had been processed and was on it's way. I love that stuff. Anyway, I think you are very wise in your ideas on weight loss and I am so happy that you have been able to reach such a marvelous goal without the use of harmful drugs. Guest guest
Hello Abby, NO, I don't mind you asking. For my size. Lets see. I started out a size 3/4 got pregnant the first time. I got so large I wore my pregnancy cloths after the baby was born for about a year. ( a size 14 was way to small) Than I finally found oxycise (sorry, had never heard of lifelift than) I finally got down to a size 9/10. Than I got pregnant again. 4 weeks after I had the baby I was back to my 9/10. 3 months after I was back to a size 4. Now 9 months later. I am still losing wieght and a few inches here and there. But, not to much to make me go down a size. Guest guest
I agree that Ma Huang is a very scary herb. Some of my friends at the gym where I work out lost a bunch of weight using a product that contained this herb. One girl lost about 17 pounds in 2 weeks. She even admitted that it was scary to think that her body was dropping weight so fast. Obviously her body was in high gear. I won't touch the stuff myself, because to me, weight loss at that rate is anything but natural. I have also read in numerous, well respected magazines about very serious problems that people have had after using this supplement. Why take the chance? Guest guest
Before taking diet pills, think about this little story about a girlfriend of mine. She started dieting and such a couple of years ago. Her name is Kim. Anyway, she started taking diet pills like dexatrim and such. She lost a lot of weight very fast but she wasn't eating either. She would go days on end without food. She didn't drink much water but drank diet soda like it was going out of fashion. She also smokes probably 3 packs of cigarettes a day so she has that yellow tint to her skin now. I recently saw Kim and she did not look healthy to me. She still smokes and her skin is now starting to sink in on her face. Plus that horrible smell of a smoker! Sorry if that offends anyone but it is very strong around her. She is skin and bones right now and I don't know if she eats or not. She has passed out from taking diet pills in the past and I am sure she is still on them. I tried to talk to her about this but she is in denial. She looks like a walking corpse basically and she is probably addicted to the diet pills knowing her past history. I know that I don't want this for myself and oxygen is so healthy for our bodies. It is nice to have the support of everyone here as well. Kim lives in shame. I know that I don't want to. And that is my story. Thanks, Michele

Guest guest
I'm sure there is someone somewhere who's had a great experience with diet pills. I haven't talked to very many though. Most people, even if they like the effect at first, eventually start complaining about insomnia, headaches, energy crashes, mood swings. I personally think fat burners are really overrated. If you're eating right and training hard you don't need them. They raise your metabolism by increasing heart rate and blood pressure. So you feel all buzzed like something is really happening, but they only cause you to burn maybe an extra 100-200 calories a day. I say drink a cup of coffee and walk the dog. It does the same thing and it's safer. :-) Here's my strange tale of PhenFree and BetaLean: http://skwigg.tripod.com/wow/id26.html I'm back to caffeine and exercise. I don't drink coffee, but I will drink a giant glass of strong iced tea before a weight workout. It definitely gets both my eyes open and gives me an energy boost. Someone I know recommended a pill that prevents the digestion of dietary fat, hence reducing the absorption by the body. It also speeds up the metabolism. I take only 1 pill a day and the pills only contains various natural and herbal essences with no preservatives, free of medicines and heavy metals. The precaution listed is for patients with heart disease, myocardial impaction malfunction or liver of kidney, pregnant women, but does not mention anything about stomach reduction. Some people on this board have medical backgrounds. Can anyone help me and tell me if I should not be taking this pill since I have the sleeve? Guest guest
Suzanne, I have been following your progress (great, by the way!). I think you had your sleeve after me (me October 1st). I will increase my exercise. I just got a bit discouraged and went back to my old "desperation" habit of trying whatever anyone would tell me. Bipley also suggested it may be my carb intake (likely). From: SuzanneSH <SuzanneSH@...>Subject: Re: Diet Pills Date: Thursday, July 23, 2009, 12:48 PM Hi Susy, I also have a sleeve and I am about 8 months out and went through the SAME thing you did of NO weight loss for about 5 weeks. I realized I needed to increase my exercise and maybe cut down my calories a little. I did that and BINGO I started to lose the weight again. For me I am sure the last 20 pounds is going to be the hardest to lose. I am not too sure I would be taking any of those meds. It is something you never know for sure what is in them. It isn't worth the risk for me. Try doing what I said. I know more exercise isn't what you wanted to hear. Or write down everything you are eating again, to see just how many calories your really are putting in your body. It might surprise you.
