I am sure you can get a note. However as your sister says there is nothing on most children's menus I would or should eat (or feed a kid). Look at one. All high fat, fried, crappy food. Your best bet is order off the regular menu and get a take out box. Then you will have a couple of meals for home. I like to eat my leftovers for breakfast and/or lunch. If eating with a friend or husband you can share too. This generally does not work for me. My husband and I usually can't agree on what to order or how it should be cooked. Some places actually have healthy appetizers. They work well too. A la carte also is good. There are better choices than a children's menu. I have never had to use the note. I only had one place tell me that I could not order from the Children's menu in over 2 years. And your sister is right, there aren't a lot of healthy things on the children's menu. When I was first sleeved and going out to eat, a cup of soup NOT a bowl, but a cup of soup worked great for me. Sometimes I would also order a small dinner salad, but note and I could only eat about 1/4 to 1/2 of the cup of soup and then maybe a couple bites of salad. Get used to the fact that you either send back the food you do not eat or take it home with you. Salad isn't good the next day, so just live with the fact that you will no longer eat everything on your plate like you could and would do before you had this surgery! And to be honest none of us NEVER needed to eat all that food, that is how we got fat and stayed fat.

That is a topic of great controversy.  You can download the card from OH.  (www.obesityhelp.com) but be prepared for a bit of drama when you post asking where to get it. ;o)

I would never dream of using such a card.  I didn't ask to pay more at buffets when I ate more, I won't ask to pay less now that I eat normal size portions.  I wouldn't bother with such a card, i just take home left over food and I don't over order to begin with.  Children's menus have mac & chz, breaded crap... nothing we should be eating anyway.  I'm not a senior so I don't ask for senior discounts.

Actually, Dr. Aceves has one as a file on this group that you can download

and print. It is the 14th one down at:

/files/

I personally never use one either. I usually just have lots of left overs that

I take home in a to go bag. Sometimes my dog gets to eat some really nasty high

carb food like baked potatoes, desert etc.

Keep in mind, many restaurants will not honor them and rightfully so.  If we are not a senior we are not entitled to that meal.  Children's meals are designed to bring parents in so they can sell food.  If we are not children we are not entitled to pay for a child's price.  It really is best just to order an appetizer and leave it at that.

It kind of puts the restaurant in a bad position.  They had no part in the decision making of the card, they are either put in the awkward position of accepting it when they really don't want to or making a customer angry.  It would be like creating a card for a deal on a car and asking the car dealer to give us a discount cuz our doctor said so.  Or asking our grocery store if we can just buy half an apple because we won't eat the whole thing.

My choice to alter my stomach was just that, my choice.  My medical history is none of the restaurants business nor do they typically care to know.On Mon, Dec 27, 2010 at 6:29 PM, pas03064 <pas03064@...> wrote:
