Guest guest
HA! I had a revision from band to sleeve with a 20.8 BMI. ;o) So yes, I had surgery as a light weight. It changes your life completely, all for the better. You'll see.Sleeves are the safest surgery type long term of all four major surgery types. Bands, sleeves, bypass, DS. Guest guest
Hi I was sleeved on Dec. 6th, 1st and last wls with a bmi of just under 30. It was due to health reasons and my doctor in my home town sent a letter as to the reasons why. You will not regret it and Dr. Aceves and the sleeve is the only way to go. Guest guest
Hi don't feel bad most of us at any time we have experience the same way I could tell you that almost 6 years ago I went a surgery here in US becouse my family reject the idea to go to other country because the "high risk" what a shame but I didn't follow my gut, I went to surgery here in US.... end of story I almost die and the dr didn't care, he was so careless and little compassion for me he take no action to ease my pain (I didn't have health insurance I was a self pay) that in order to survive I turn to my friends and my friends to their friend and so on that is the reason that I still alive, I almost become addicted to pain killer and I was at home in a hospital bed for about 3 months. Now here I am with 50-60 pounds over I have been fitting this overweigh since then, Today I took my own decision to go with Dr A and now my family support me and if they don't do it I don' care. You are not alone first you have your husban and then this forum and support group you allways can count in us. Congratulations in your desicion, Oh almost forgot I don't know your heigh but my BMI is 34.7 and you know what I still need that surgery to be more confident with myself and my self-esteem will rise and so will go up yours. Guest guest
I am so thrilled that you are going to have Dr. Aceves do your surgery. It is a shame that your family wouldn't listen to your gut feeling the first time. But, your story is one that many women will benefit from. Thanks for sharing it. You are going to be OK. Remember it takes work and effort on your part to lose this weight. It just doesn't melt off you, and you have to have an entire lifestyle change. You won't be on a diet once you lose the weight, and that is where the lifestyle change comes in. Your surgery is your tool to allow you to lose the weight. Guest guest
Thank you everyone so much for all your words of inspiration. I completely agree that this surgery is going to change my life. I simply cannot wait. I wish I was going next month. I agree with this will help my self steem go up. My height is between 5'2'' and 5'3'' and I weigh 186 which is my highest and I have no clothes that fits. I get so depressed at times when I'm going out and I see people my age that aren't as big as me I'm 24 and I don't want to spend the rest of my life like this. Its sad that now that its the holidays instead of being excited to go out I told my husband I rather stay home because I don't want people to see me like this. It won't be for long though. > > > From: SuzanneSH@... <SuzanneSH@...> > Subject: Re: Counting down the days! > > Date: Wednesday, December 15, 2010, 7:54 AM > > >  > > > > > I am so thrilled that you are going to have Dr. Aceves do your surgery. It is a shame that your family wouldn't listen to your gut feeling the first time. But, your story is one that many women will benefit from. Thanks for sharing it. You are going to be OK. Remember it takes work and effort on your part to lose this weight. Guest guest
Hi , I started out at 225, and now I am 120. I am 5'3" tall, so I can understand just how you feel. Just start looking at all the cute clothes that you want to have a year from now. Hang some pictures of these clothes in your kitchen, so that it will keep you focused. This is a great way to visually give yourself some goals. You are going to do this and your are going to look soooooooo hot! We are hear to support you in any way we can. Go to Dr. Aceves Bandsters Web Site and look at some of the before and after pictures of some of the people who have been very successful at this WLS with the sleeve. That always helped me a lot--I thought to myself these are regular people just like me and if they can do this so can I. Hugs, Suzanne In a message dated 12/15/2010 3:40:41 P.M. Guest guest
Hi , There are a lot of people on this board who have a lot of experience. I am thrilled to pay it forward and help anyone if I can. I had some people on here when I started and they were fabulous and held my hand and got me through the good, bad and ugly. So anything that I can do, I try to do it. Hugs, Suzanne In a message dated 12/16/2010 8:22:56 A.M. Guest guest
Hi, there! I made my appt today for a sleeve on 1/13. I am a BMI of 35, so " low " but really if I don't have the surgery now I will be at 40 by the end of 2011. I figure I should act now while I still have no serious complications of obesity (no apnea, hypertension, diabetes, etc.) and also while I am still young enough to heal well and be active after. It's a personal choice that I made to live the remainder of my life differently than the previous 50 years. I'll be happy to post here about my experience but if you are looking at February we may be pretty close in our results! > > Hello everyone, > I am new here and I have been reading some of your posts and I'm so glad I found this group. I have my husbands support but that's about it. I have people that say are concerned I will have complications and people that tell me I don't need surgery. I'm the only one that knows how bad I feel about being overweight and how worried I am about my health. I have a bmi of 34 and i would like to 50 to 60 pounds. I wanted to know if any of you have been sleved with a "low" bmi and what was your weight loss experience like such as how much weight you lost and how long did it take. I can't wait to be a healthier and happier me!> > >> >>
