Guest guest
Hi , We were there in Oct and one of the guys got a fork and went to the thermostat and turned the air conditioning cooler so we didn't suffer from the heat. So you might want to look at the thermostat in the hall and see if you can turn the air on with a fork--just a thought. I never got Sunny Delight--oh well. The blue stuff wasn't bad at all and I didn't care for the chicken broth--must have tasted different than what I was use to in the good old USA. But anything taste good when you are on the clear liquids. You are doing the right thing by walking. I didn't have any pain pills after the first day either. They give you some to take with you when you go home, but I never used mine. I do remember when I came home I had trouble sleeping some night and would get up in the middle of the night and watch a little TV or read. Popcycles always made me feel better--give it a try when you leave if you are having problems sleeping. Now you know what we were saying when we said how nice it is there and how well they (the staff) treat you. There is always a lot of staff around. Are you on the 1st floor or 2nd floor? Take care and I am thrilled that you came through this like the trooper you are. Go to the site, I posted some new and current pictures of my new weight loss of 41 pounds. They did look at me a little weird but, oh well. I met Shea and at the hospital. I will stop by for a visit with you tomorrow if that is ok. Glad everything is going so well. Guest guest
: I am so thrilled that you are feeling well! That is awesome! I am sure they love you at the hospital! It is so much easier on your healing if you have a great attitude and think positively! That makes the time go by! We had a group when I went who would circle the big nurses desk in that reception area where the scale and then head back to our rooms. We would do that 15 or more times per day just to get the walking in! I am hoping to get back there some day to visit the doctors and let them see their handywork! They are so sweet aren't they? I know you will do great and be exercising in no time! Congratulations fellow sleevester! You are starting a new phase of your life! Guest guest
Lol, that's exactly where I exercise. Suprised we haven't put a dent in that marble! I walked into the lobby, too, but stay out of patient wards since my resistence is down and I don't want to get sick. I just met another gal who came out of surgery today with a sleeve. Just said a hello, take care, see you later so didn't get her name. I have kept the nurses laughing because when they come in at dinner, I say "Bueno, carne asada, frijoles, arroz y tortillas!!" Most of them just laughed but I shocked the newbie this morning who brought the juices when I said "Bueno, juevos rancheros. Me gusta mucho". She stopped short, thinking she had the wrong room. Darn, so close. They are a great bunch and so willing to help with anything. The surgery has been a breeze and like others, wish I hadn't waited so long. B. and I are both here in secret. Initially, I told her if I died, she'd have to call my daughter and say.......you don't know me but I have some bad news. I promised to do the same for her family. But we're both doing great! Still no pain pills. Guest guest
Hi , You don't need a prescription at all. You can give them cash and they can walk in and tell them what they want and they are more than happy to sell it to them. In Mexicali or Mexico there are many things that you can buy without a prescription. Suzanne In a message dated 1/14/2009 9:35:36 P.M. Guest guest
: That is awesome you guys are doing so well! Tell B and Joyce (your husband) that I am thinking of them! Yes, I think our feet have all worn down those hallways with our big rattley IV carts meandering down those halls. They probably think we are weird, but I was so happy that I did it and am now on the road to my goal weight! There is no feeling better when you have been overweight and you can feel in control of your eating habits and not starving and not looking to graze or not angry because you can't have something that you want. Guest guest
The fans are working well for B. and me and just the right temp. Dr. A sees them daily and hasn't said anything. I'd hate to have a blasting a.c. turned on. Remember the posts about wearing socks at night and bringing a hot water bag. Don't need them now. Put in my request for carne asada again tonite but got a glass of Sunny Delight, a glass of apple juice and a cup of tea. Dr. A said to consider this the first full day of the 10 stage portion. Count down. 9 days to go. He says I do not look as if I had surgery. Probably says that to everyone. Still no pain pills and I would not tough it out, believe me. Guest guest
wow, what a deal!! That sure beats $150.!!! I did see a large pharmacy down the street, I think called Kathy's Pharamacy. Can I give you some cash and a prescription to get a supply for me, too? How long do we have to take them? I am in room 24. My 2nd day after surgery & doing just great. B. from Florida is next door to me & also is in same condition. Our iv's were taken out today, we drank the blue stuff to show no leaks and were rewarded with a glass of hot tea, glass of apple juice and, go figure, a glass of Sunny Delight. I thought they were supposed to be clear??? Had I known, I would have brought some S.D. with me. B. and I have had no pain pills which should make some of you feel good that haven't had the surgery. We're encouraged to walk often, which I do. Doctors are in frequently to see how we're doing and if there's a nurse shortage in the U.S., you wouldn't know it here. Guest guest
Many folks have a fan, it is perfectly normal to be running a low grade temp after surgery. It's the way the body heals itself. Fans are common so Dr Aceves would not think twice about them. If you are uncomfortable... TELL him. You'll be amazed at how fast things are fixed. On Wed, Jan 14, 2009 at 10:26 PM, <foxycruiser@...> wrote: The fans are working well for B. and me and just the right temp. Guest guest
Hi , Sounds like you are pretty entertaining. You are right the nurses are always helpful. I loved all the doctors too because the more you talk with them the more you see the sparkle in their eyes. The doctors have a delightful sense of humor too. When you are more comfortable with your weight loss and you see how well you are doing, you will be willing to tell your family. The one person that I think should know is your doctor. They need to be aware of what you have done so that if you aren't feeling well they will know how to treat you. Being older I had been taking 81 mg of Aspirin daily before I had the surgery. My doctor now says because of my smaller stomach that I should stay away from aspirin products. So that is why I say please tell your doctor what you have done. I took all the reports that Dr, Aceves sent home with me to my doctor so it is with my medical records. My doctor also was having me have some blood tests to make sure all my levels in my body remained where they should be. The one problem I had was that my potassium level dropped when I was in Mexicali and Dr. Aceves told me to watch it. So I am now taking potassium that my doctor prescribed once I got home. If you potassium level drops you will know it, I felt like all my energy had been drained out of my body and I felt weak about a week after I got home--I knew that there was something wrong. Pay attention to warning signs that your body is try to tell you--"hey stupid there is some wrong here." These are things that you can keep just between you and your doctor. And you may be very lucky and never have any warning signs and be just fine. You have to remember you did this for yourself and NO one else. I use to think it was about how I would look on the outside. Now I have had a chance to think about this and I know I need to heal from the inside to the outside. If I put all the right things on the inside of me and become healthy then my outside will just keep getting better. It is amazing, they do the surgery on your stomach, but it really effect your mental thinking also. Glad to see you are being social and talking to the other people. There was a group of 4 of us when we had our surgery in October and we all stay in contact via E-mail and pictures. Get their E-mail address if they want to stay in contact. There are some really fabulous people on this sight and we all have a lot of things in common. Just because I don't have a lap band doesn't mean that I don't know how they feel or what they have been through. We can all relate to each other. Weather you have the lap band or the sleeve that is a personal choice and aren't we glad we do have choices. Stay safe and make the most of the next few days. Stay in touch with all of us. Guest guest
Dr. Aceves recommends taking the Nexium for three months minimum. I'll be sure to let you know before I go get some for us. How long are you going to be here? Today, I'm hanging around for Alan's surgery and want to be here when he comes back to the room. I'll try to get to the pharmacy tomorrow if that works for you. Guest guest
, Me again, I don't think you even need a presciption down here it's over the counter. The ones my husband bought me were 20 mg with 14 per package. I think he got me 6 boxes. Also, if I remember correctly the doctor will also give you two boxes to take with you.
