,Don't panic just yet! Weight fluctuates so much and that is what makes the scale the enemy!I remember not being much further out than you are and I got on the scale after work just wondering what it would say. It said I was up 5lbs from that morning. I was shocked! I typically weigh in the morning first thing after going to the bathroom, so I figured there would be a slight difference, but 5lbs?!?! Even if I had just eaten, I can't hold 5lbs! I immediately got on OH.com to see if I could find anyone who experienced the same thing and surfed around for about an hour. I learned about fluctuations in weight and thought that I would just get on the scale again. I had changed nothing in that hour, clothes, potty, eaten, etc....just surfed the web and the scale was down 2 of those 5lbs. The next morning, the other 3 were gone and a bit

more. There are so many reasons you could have an increase, but don't worry...it will come off!!Sent from my iPhoneOn Aug 26, 2011, at 6:37 PM, "" <ldc62@...> wrote:

OK...so I'm 3 weeks out from surgery. At 2 weeks out, I had lost 19.6 lbs. In the last week I have gained back 3. I don't get it, I'm following the eating guidelines, except I'm probably not getting 800 calories. I'm walking every day. I'm frustrated. I know things slow down and occasionally stall, but so soon?

First off, congrats on losing the 19 lbs. Second off, welcome to the 3

week stall process! Yep, about 3 weeks is when the first slow down

occurs. Gaining back 3 can be due to not eating enough calories or

retaining water. Are you consuming salt in soups or something? It

sounds like water retention and not real gain. This is just how the

process works. People with more to lose will lose faster, and people

with less to lose, lose slower. Just keep doing everything you're doing

and maybe eat a little more and see what happens. Your body is going

through a transformation, give it some time. You didn't gain it

overnight; it doesn't come off overnight even though in the beginning it

seems like it will. Patience, my dear, just have a little patience and

stick to your plan.

Hi,

This happens from time to time. You may go up 2 or 3 pounds. But just keep doing what you are doing. I promise you it will come off. Keep eating 800 calories per day. Watch your carbs no more than 20 per day. If you are doing any kind of exercise remember muscle weighs more that fat. So sometimes that is where the gain comes in.

Hugs,

Suzanne

Calm down - you are going to be okay. I PROMISE you!

Your body is trying to adjust to all the new stuff you are throwing at it.

Remember - you just had MAJOR surgery even tho you look " normal " on the outside.

Your stomach went through MAJOR trauma and it takes months for it to heal. In

the meantime, your body is trying to maintain what it thought was your " normal "

weight. You are going to experience fluctuations on the scale. Are you taking

your measurements? If not, you need to start NOW. You are going to experience

stalls soon too and you will become very discouraged. But if you are taking

your measurements, you will see that you are still losing INCHES. The scale is

not the only measure of success.

Be sure you are getting enough water, and kick up your calories - it will help

you to start losing again. When I forget to eat lots of small meals each day so

I get enough calories in, my weight loss stalls out. (It's just too easy for me

to not eat. Boy - what a new problem THAT is after 50 years of gorging!!!)

Also remember that exercise builds muscle and muscle weighs more than fat so you

can be losing fat but gaining muscle (which is the healthy thing to do!) but the

scale won't show weight loss.

Hang in there hon. As I said - I PROMISE it will be okay. You are doing the

right things - the weight IS going to come off.

I agree with . I am about 10 weeks out and down 35 lbs. I have been going to the gym 5-6 times a week, getting all my protein in daily, eating exactly as I was told, etc. I have hit so many stalls I thought I was going to be the one patient out of 800 that would not lose, lol. I get disappointed at times because I won't lose anything for like 2 weeks then I will lose 10 lbs in 1 weekend then 2 days later gain 5 back. I lost the first 20 lbs in the first 2 weeks after surgery which means that I have only lost 15 lbs in the past 8 weeks. Just hang in there it will come off, but we are all different. Good luck!

Everyone is correct.  The evil 3 week stall.  It happens.WW has an article that I want to shoot myself for losing the link to.  It explains the biology of stalls including the infamous 3 week stall.  It's normal and to be expected.  If it didn't happen you'd be weird. ;o)  You can expect another stall at around a 50# weight loss and every 50# from there on out.

It's just how it works.  Keep hanging in there, you'll do well.  Pinky swear!
