Guest guest
I am using medifast for my pre-op does anyone know if that's okay?? I have been doing just fine on it although last night I made a big dinner for my kids and I just started crying ..... It's not that I wanted what I made them, I think I just realized I can't use comfort food to make me feel better anymore .. When I was younger I was an athlete and I worked out to reduce stress now that I'm overweight I eat because working out is painful. I cannot wait to be able to start living life again I am so excited but curious is this sadness normal ? I feel like I should be nothing but happy! ~
Guest guest
Why are you doing a liquid diet? Dr. Aceves usually has you do basic Atkins. On Wed, Mar 10, 2010 at 7:39 AM, ishoot42 <ishoot42@...> wrote: I am using medifast for my pre-op does anyone know if that's okay?? Guest guest
I followed Atkins as recommended by Dr. Aceves as best as I could. Medifast is higher carbs than Atkins but lower fat and calories. Post op I went back to Medifast. Its working well for me. Guest guest
I started on Medifast May 30, 2009, and my sleeve surgery was August 10, 2009, and I lost 26 pounds on Medifast before the surgery. Of course it's all right to do. The reason I'm still on it is because it takes the guess work out of " what am I going to eat today " and keeps my calories and protein count right where they need to be. It's a little pricey, but I don't spend as much at the store buying empty carbs like I used to. I think it's a great plan and would recommend it to anyone, WLS or no WLS. It wasn't hard to follow before the surgery because I was on a " mission " to lose weight, HOWEVER, it's a lot easier to stay on with the surgery because it's just the right amount to eat and you're done. I get a little tired of the food now and then, so at those times I switch things around. I do supplement my Medifast protein shakes with extra whey protein to get the grams up. Works for me. As for the crying, yes, you're just processing the changes to come. Don't worry, you won't miss food that much if you keep your protein up and carbs down. It'll all be a lot better once you actually have the surgery. > > I am using medifast for my pre-op does anyone know if that's okay?? > I have been doing just fine on it although last night I made a big dinner for my kids and I just started crying ..... Guest guest
Medifast is more than liquid. You get a full regular, normal food meal. For me post op I in no way can eat a full regular meal so supplement with Unjury to make up the protein I can't get from meat. Its easy to keep track of and there are lots of vitamins in the Medifast meals. Also tastes far better than any whey protein I have tried. There are shakes, soups, bars, new yummy brownie, cheese puffs, pretzels, puddings that are all meal replacements. Something for everyone. Guest guest
I do the very same thing supplementing with Unjury for the added protein boost. Its very strange that I don't miss food. I thought I would. Not being hungry and being satisfied with small amounts is so great. Guest guest
Medifast isn't a liquid diet, if this is what you're referring to. It has protein shakes as one aspect, but there is other prepackaged food too. You're meant to have a " lean/green " dinner at night which is entirely up to you to fashion. There are packaged oatmeals, soups, snacks, chili, pudding, a bunch of stuff you can eat. If anyone is interested in seeing what it's all about, check out: www.medifast1.com > > > > > > > I am using medifast for my pre-op does anyone know if that's okay?? > > I have been doing just fine on it although last night I made a big dinner > > for my kids and I just started crying .....
