Guest guest
Hi Everybody! I have been out of here for a while because I couldn't get the loan and was a bit frustrated, but I decided to put the money together and keep going on... anyway, I'm glad to read about so many stories here, but I'm still confused about getting the band or the sleeve. Can you guys please give me more information on the differences? Thank you!
Guest guest
Hi Bipley, What is "is"? What is full? LOL Having never had a band I don't know what full feels like with it. My feeling of full with the sleeve is more a restrictive feeling of full, not a bloated feeling of full like I had before the sleeve when I was out of control. The first 10 days was amazing. I dropped 25 pounds like a rock, then like a bad check I bounced up 5 and have stalled between 18 and 22 pounds. I'm following the diet faithfully and am confident I will pass through this wall soon. I wonder, if I have hit that age cured fat that has been cemented in for many decades. Fortunately I have no hunger, only very mild visions rare steak and pizza. Careful of those staples, woman!! Guest guest
Biply, I dont know if you remember but I met you on 4/11/08 when I had the sleeve surgery. We met with my family at the hotel as well as you coming in to visit in my hospital room. I am amazed that you can eat beans and planning on eating chicken!! Are you serious?? Are you already eating solid foods?? I still cant eat chicken and it will be three months July 11th. I eat about three or four bites of selected things and I am full. Yes, it is a strange full and I definately know when I eat too much. But all I can eat are four or five small bites at the most. I am still leaning toward soft foods or crunchy foods. I wonder if I am where I need to be. I tried to eat a few bites of a kiddy hamburger from Mcs and got sick at my stomach. Guest guest
I had forgotten what the " old " feeling full felt like until I got the sleeve. Now I remember. Oh, I got full with a band but it felt different.I haven't tried solids yet so I don't know what that will be like (i'm on soft foods now, slider foods) so I wonder what it will be like later. I had a similar experience to your sweet shot from Chilis. I've been drinking high calorie liquids because I'm at goal and don't really want to lose more. I drank some chocolate milk the other night and thought I was going to be sick. After about 10 minutes I was sick to my stomach, stomach cramps, dizzy, shaky, and thought I was going to hurl. It was not nice. I don't know if it was a blood sugar issue or what but I won't be doing that again. I'm not worried about it anyway, I'm not into sweets a great deal. My vice was always bread, pizza, etc. but I don't eat those things anymore. Today I much prefer vegetables and such. I could easily be a vegetarian once again, AFTER the 4th of July! ;o) On Sun, Jun 29, 2008 at 4:19 AM, Marie Friedman <apanther97@...> wrote: Bipley, The full sensation is very much like it was before surgery for me however it is very clear very early on that you do not over eat. I got my sleeve in march have only gotten ill twice and it was because (my thinking) I had dessert you know those little sweet shots you can get from chilis ....Lesson learned !! I wont do that again.... it seems that if i eat and then have a sweet it does something weird to me I almost passed out and of course just to be sure I had to try it again! (on a diffrent occasion). I can have a sweet by its self but not after a meal. ( my 5 or 6 bites of protein! LOL) OK I am going on and on... bottom line I don't notice a diffrence except I dont get that feeling of man I ate too much I have to unbutton my pants and feel miserable for the next two hours feeling. And that is a good thing!!! By the way DON " T BUST A STAPLE !!!! Marie
Guest guest
Hi Gerry...I know you! I know you from LBT I believe! It's common to lose like crazy on the post op diet (clear liquids) and then it slows down. It does stop for a few days for many people regardless of surgery type. Another common plateau is the 50# point, I have an article on it somewhere if someone is interested, I think I have it anyway. It's common to plateau at 50#. Yeah, the " no hunger " thing is weird! I have not experienced hunger since the day before surgery. No Ghrelin ROCKS! I have a handle on head hunger so I forget to eat. I used to read about people setting timers so they would remember to eat a meal and I thought they were exaggerating. They aren't! One day I had a protein shake at about 6AM and then at 7PM I realized I hadn't consumed anything else. Weird. On Sun, Jun 29, 2008 at 2:49 PM, g <gerryleeo@...> wrote: Hi Bipley, What is " is " ? Guest guest
Hi ...How are you!!???!!!???I have no problem with beans. Refried beans, baked beans, not a problem. I can only eat about 1/4 cup and I'm full but I have no problems with it at all. I am on soft foods right now so tuna salad, ground up chicken salad (without celery of course), etc. No problems at all. The only negative experience was the Chocolate milk thing, I won't be doing that again! ;o) Yesterday I steamed mixed veggies, I intentionally overcooked them and everything was great except for broccoli. I cooked it well enough but I think it was a bit too early for that. The zucchini, yellow squash, and bell pepper was a mush they were so overcooked and that went down well too. Guest guest
I think it is a combination of the idea that I have spent a long time dealing with head hunger and with a sleeve there really isn't any stomach hunger due to the lack of ghrelin. I never dreamed I would forget to eat either but it happens! Boy, I've always said that people who like to eat couldn't forget a meal. My utmost hope is that with the sleeve (or band?), one day, I too will forget to eat... ;o) My best for everybody!
