Hi ,

Gee you are pretty normal. I have to say that I think most of us--I know for a fact that I sure felt like this and had most of the same feeling you are having. This is pretty NORMAL to have all these feeling. It is the unknown that scares you, and some things that maybe family have said to you too. I want to assure you that you are doing the right thing. You are going to be better than just OK. You are going to be fabulous. Just hold on, and know that there are so many people on this site who can also tell you that had a boat load of fears and questioning what they were doing. It is a big thing what you are doing, but you are going to save your own life. You are the only person who can do that. Why would you need all that stomach--it is what made you fat, so now it is time to take control over your life and change that!!

I am sending you a big HUG, if you want to talk via private E-mail. My E-mail is Suzanneshaol (DOT) com. If you want me to phone you send me an E-mail with your phone number and I will be happy to just talk things through with you. Here is what I want you to know. If you don't do something you are always going to have what you have right now. And I bet that isn't what you want. So be a big girl grab a hold of yourself and have a little talk with yourself and ask yourself if living like you are living what you want to continue doing for the rest of your life or do you want to be healthy, thin and happy--it isn't just a dream it is something that you can make happen.

Take care and hugs to you,

Suzanne

It's so normal to be nervous! That is just one of many emotions you will

experience on your journey to a healthier you. But once you get to Mexicali and

meet the wonderful people who will be caring for you, it all gets better. I

still wish I could go to them for ALL of my medical needs!

And think about what lies ahead:

no more foot pain - you will be able to enjoy walking again!

no more knee pain.

you will be able to get down on the floor because you know you will be able to

get back up again without looking for a piece of furniture to pull up on!

you will be able to paint your toenails and tie your shoelaces without getting

out of breath.

you will be able to shop in the ladies section instead of the plus-size section.

you will be able to totally ROCK the cute, trendy clothes again.

you will have SO MUCH more energy!

NOT to mention the multitude of HEALTH problems that you will no longer have to

worry about!!! sleep apnea, hypertension, diabetes - so many people have been

cured of these by their weight loss...

I embarked on my journey when my doctor told me I was pre-diabetic. That scared

the living daylights out of me.

Well, when I had my blood-work done at 4 months out, I was NO LONGER

PRE-DIABETIC! That ALONE is worth all the time and money I put into this.

Everything else is just a perk.

I used the time before my surgery to " say goodbye " to my favorite foods -

chicken fried steak with cream gravy; bacon burgers with fries; fried chicken;

fudge brownies; etc etc. And I discovered as I was doing so that they really

weren't all that fantastic. Now it seems kind of funny to me because I can

STILL have all those things if I want them! Two bites and I'm DONE. But my

taste buds have changed and now I find myself craving things like vegetable soup

or grilled fish. You will be amazed to see how your taste-buds change.

Now, I haven't lost my love of bean and cheese tacos but today one taco will

feed me for breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack!

Don't think of it as " losing " a huge portion of your stomach. Think of it as

having a demon exorcised from your body.

And keep us posted as you run through the gamut of emotions - we've experienced

them too and are here to help you through it.

(((HUGS))) to you, girl, and congratulations on your journey to a healthy you!

Well, it's more like 85% will go away. ;o)  But you know what?  It is spooky before surgery, after surgery you won't care.  It won't feel any different than it does today, you'll just get full faster.  Look at it this way, what favors did the fundus of your stomach ever do for you other than to stretch to allow you to eat more food and be obese?  Would you feel the same about your appendix?  Sometimes you just have to put it all into perspective.

I'm missing several other body parts. I never have missed them. They were troublesome and had to go just like that big chunk of troublesome stomach. It had to go for my health.
