Guest guest
Hi Jeedu, Thanks for contacting the forum. Your son's electrodes could be in slightly different positions than they were with the N24C, so that could make the map sound different - " strange " in his opinion. Also, a first mapping is usually very conservative, so his full dynamic range has probably not been reached. AND he's only on his 2nd day with the map. If he thinks back, he might remember that for a week or so after a new mapping things sound strange anyway. I'm sure all will be fine, further mappings will happen. He didn't get his hearing all at once with the N24C either. So time and patience. That he is hearing at all is a great sign. Hang in there, Hi! All My son Hussein Noordeen who is 15 now was implanted with a N24 when he was 7 yrs old. Last December while playing he knocked his head and had to be explanted and re-implanted with the new freedom. He was switched on 2 days ago and says that the sounds are very different. I would like to know whether anyone in this group has had such an experience and if so how long did it take to get use to the new implant and the sounds He has an the initial map with all electrodes functioning. Would he need speech therapy to get use to the new sounds Your imput will be greatly appreaciated We live in sri lanka where there is hardly any help for a person or family with an implant Thanks Jeedu
