The Nucleus Freedom offers 4 totally different types of strategies, and

all the variations of them.

SPEAK, , a moderate rate dynamic strategy that roves across a set

of 22 possible stimulating electrodes. This provides intricate

information on pitch.

CIS, a high rate strategy that uses a limited fixed set of

electrodes. This use of high rates provides detailed information on the

timing of speech.

ACE, a strategy that offers a moderate to high rate of

stimulation with roving selection from up to 22 channels. ACE is unique

to the Nucleus device, and is designed to maximize your hearing potential

to produce a richer spectrum of sound information.

HI-ACE, Same idea as ACE, but a faster stimulation rate.

What I like is the fact that you have choices of 4 different strategies.

And the fact that SPEAK, ACE, and HiAce all use roving strategies, means

that the best electrodes will be stimulated depending on the sound coming

in.

The Freedom also offers such unique features as Beam (allowing you to

focus on someone speaking to you, and dampen background noises), a built

in telecoil to allow you to hear on the phone, or use an FM system

without adding anything to the processor. AND 4 channels to hold 4

different programs. No other brand offers as many.
